Charleston & calling all camera phone users

Tomorrow we leave for Charleston, SC for a mini-vacay… I simply cannot wait.  My best guy friend is getting married on Saturday and there will be all sorts of festivities.

Speaking of Charleston, I've mentioned before that I thoroughly enjoy the new publication Garden & Gun… well Haskell Harris who used to be at Cottage Living is now at Garden & Gun and is blogging… which I discovered via Style Court

Haskell2

How cute is the house she left behind in Birmingham, Alabama?  I am getting antsy for spring… I stood in my backyard this morning, cup of coffee in hand, when my mind started racing of all that I wanted to do in my garden this year that I never go around to… 2009 is the year to finish up the yard.

Studiob1

So, if you missed the memo over at Desire to Inspire, Studio B right here in my little town is hosting a camera phone contest!!!  Colleen Duffley who is a new friend and fabulous photographer has started a  studio/biz for lovers of all things creative… "Colleen is actually starting a new studio (Studio b!) in early 2009 that will be more of a cultural/ lifestyle venue; bringing in top photographers, designers, chefs, authors, musicians, and artists for classes and seminars, events, as well as gallery exhibitions. Studio b will be doing cooking classes, photography classes, for adults and kids… and really establish a venue for creativity. The first event that Studio b. is hosting is an online photo exhibiton of people's first shot of the new year, which must be taken from a cell phone camera! We have been working hard to get the word out, so it will be fun to see how many we get and from what corner of the world!! The website is new, so we will be updating constantly."

So email your camera phone pictures by January 2nd to: scoop[at]studiobthebeach[dot]com

Here are the rules and details.

More Colleen here.  And her side-kick Molly (who is also super fun and very talented) here.

Happy New Year friends!  See you in '09!  (With lots of photos from my Christmas adventures and Charleston travels!)

merry christmas my friends

It is my prayer that all of my friends in the blogosphere have a very Merry Christmas!

Runner

Our little Paisley (that's Penelope above) has recovered very well, we are grateful that her little life was spared.  I'm also very grateful that a kind soul found my wallet today at Sam's Club and turned it in… without a dime missing.

Amaryllis

I expect a bloom from the amaryllis tomorrow. (took this photo last week)

Slatkin

Do any of you have this candle?  I received it as a gift last year and LOVE it.

Ribbon

I got my wrapping done just in the nick of time.  I keep my ribbon on a pant hanger.. it works great.  I think it was a Real Simple tip a couple years ago.  In Christmases past I've used craft paper, but this year is Polka-Dot Year.

Wrapping

So my gifts are looking like this…

Gift

Spy my tree skirt?  Last year a friend wanted one custom made, and I followed her lead… in colors that worked for my house.  My tree is not set up on that table… the photo is deceiving, just showing you the skirt (and of course it is folded in half in the photo).

Skirt before tree

And our stockings? Mine is the stripe, his is the argyle.

Stockings

In other random news, I finally got these back from dad… my mom found the shades for me- they are called the "Perfectly Lit" – yes ma'am… I'd agree.  Discontinued from Resto Hardware, but here's something similar.  Do you think I have a lamp problem?  I spy 4 on that very table, and if memory serves me right I have 4 more stashed under that table.

White lamps

Maybe '09 will welcome an Urban Grace Lamp Sale?  Don't tell my husband though, because I might change my mind.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

hello little man, we’ve been waiting for you!

My most precious friend {Allyson} and her husband {Wes} (who is also a precious friend)… welcomed their son into this world yesterday.

CMH 01

Caleb Michael, 7lbs, 1 oz… born yesterday afternoon.

CMH 02

He was so alert… checking everyone out!

EMP and CMH

Caleb, I couldn't wait to hold you!!!!  Did you know I cried when your mom told me she was pregnant?  She kept it a secret for soooo long… I could not believe it!  I am really excited for you to get home and see your nursery that we have been working on… I think you are going to love it!  Your mom is an identical twin (you probably already have this figured out considering your Aunt Ashley was there yesterday), but did you know that your designer Auntie E is an identical twin too!?  Wait til you see all 4 of your aunties together- you will giggle!

I'll come over to visit again once you get home from the hospital, and I'll bring my camera and show all your new blog fans your nursery!!!

Allyson and Wes CONGRATS!!!

LOVE YOU!!!

Hey, I'm back- I found a picture for you of your mom and your twin aunties all together (+ the twins that live across the street from my mom and dad at the farm): Browns and mcphersons
