Hi… it's me… Paisley. I'm doing so much better. Thanks sooooo much for loving on me and those animals at the Alaqua Animal Shelter, mom is sending a check today for $201… she decided to let the comments collect until this morning. I have not regained enough strength to sing (ahhhrooo-rooo-roo) just yet… but I'm getting there.
I'm well enough that mom left me at home for a couple of hours last night to go play 'wanna be Bakerellas' with some girlfriends. She recently helped this friend with a house face-lift… enjoy the pictures, you might get a few peeks of momma's handy-work.
Okay, wait. Mom didn't really do anything but sit and watch and take pictures. Which is really unlike her. She was in a funk… admittedly too tired to participate. When she got home last night, she was so ashamed that her pumpkins are still out on our front porch. Is Mom in denial that it's Christmas? Maybe it's the hot weather that's killing her. She had on a sleeveless shirt and Birkenstocks yesterday. And I heard her sigh when DaddyBoy called to inform her Chicago had 6" of snow and they reminisced about the eery, but peaceful quiet that heavy snow brings and how they both love it so.
They baked two box chocolate cakes, then food processed those cakes til they were powdery like dirt. Mom did help mix in the tub of frosting. One food processed (baked) cake, one frosting… roll into balls, put a stick in. Dip in chocolate.
While the friends dipped those cake sticks in chocolate Mom sipped a cranberry wine spritzer and critiqued enjoyed Christmas cards that had arrived at her friend's house. This was her favorite.
Then Mom brought up the fact that Christmas is her favorite time of year, and it devastates her that she hasn't gotten her act together on a Christmas card for our family yet.
I know a good eye doctor who could probably fix those slightly crossed-eyes.
There is a new kitten in this house… and a couple of kids. And a lot of talk about how Mom should have a kid, but also a lot of hollering at the kids in this house which makes Mom wonder if she's ready for kids? They are precious. And a lot of work. Mom has a lot of work already… could she juggle a lot of work on top of a lot of work?
The mom who lives here juggles a very busy (successful and creative) career and kids… this is her motto:
Penelope and I like being the kids in our house… just sayin'.
The rudolph pops were getting difficult… so they improvised. Chocolate dipped cake balls with peppermint sprinkles.
A few were "tasted". Yup. Good.
More cake pops here.
And of course, the idea came from here.
Happy Holidays!

I’ve got a little man you could borrow for a few nights and see if you’re up for it!
The reindeer sticks are PRESH-O-LA!
Merry Merry!
Meow. Doesn’t Marla know you are allergic to KITTIES? Maybe she’s trying to run you off!! I hope you didn’t touch it! But it sure is a cutie!
I am glad to know little Paisley is doing well. What a scary thing…
Those little kids are darling…
No fair Erika…I couldn’t see enough of the house after you hinted. The Christmas goodies looked great!
Loved this post – get on those Christmas decs so you can share them with us BEFORE Christmas! – and BTW, kids just make you realize that you weren’t REALLY busy before!!! Ha Ha!!!
Paisley, your mom was great moral support in the process. Thanks for letting us borrow her for the evening!
paisley–SO glad you are feeling better!!
So glad that your kid is better! Great post, Paisley. Those pops looked yummy!
i did see the adorable roman shade…but not enough…get rid of those pumpkins (not that i can talk…i never even hung my wreath)!!
I was hoping for more house pictures too… that was a tease! Those chocolate pops are so cute – and they look really good! It doesn’t feel like Christmas here either – 78 degrees outside… I hate it.
Paisley, it is so great to hear you are feeling better! Tell your mom not to fret, we all can’t wait to get a sneak peek at her Christmas decor. Looks like she had an enjoyable time last night and we loved getting a glimpse at more of her work; always enjoyable!
Paisley, so glad to hear you are feeling better. E, like I told D, I will gladly change with either of you to be back somewhere where the weather is warm. Snow is fine if you don’t have to drive in it, and unfortunately I do. =( Thankfully, though, not tomorrow when they are calling for 6-10″. I’ll just have to shovel it as the hubby is out of town. Yippie! But, I will not be immune…there is another storm system coming our way Saturday night into Sunday, and I’ll be working both days. =(
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Alison
Erika – I’m sure your sister has told you this a million times, but on your worst day with children, your worst day when they haven’t slept and they’ve thrown up on you – twice – and you think you are completely at the end of your rope? You never regret it.
Paisley, WOW that was some loot for the shelter!! I’m glad you are doing better.
The treats look very tasty!!
Hey maybe you can just stick a santa hat on the pumpkins and paint them white to look like snowmen!
YES… we got hit again here in the Chicago area with snow!! Another day to stay indoors!
Brookie, how I wish you were here in Chi-town. There’s a good 6 inches of snow, fire going… all we need is you! You and Chance should come up and get a feel for a Chicago winter! I think it’s been too long since you’ve enjoyed one.
Those treats look soo yummy! You are teasing us with those little pictures of what looks like a great kitchen! Love the roman shade and you will so have to have a baby just so we can see what you would do with the nursery!
Paisley, so glad to hear you are feeling better! Those treats your mom helped to make look delicious, and I can certainly relate to her quandary about having kids… sometime, just not yet… Plus, Paisley, I think my two pups would agree they like being the only kids for now too
So glad to hear paisley is doing better! What a scare!
