strange sighting

Today I went home for lunch.  A quick turkey sandwich with my husband and then we were headed out the front door… until… out of the corner of my eye I saw something duck around the front of Chance's truck.

Could it be? Or was I seeing things?

I turned to Chance "I think there was just a dog in a hooded sweatshirt standing by your truck?"

He must have thought I was losing my mind.

Yes.

When I approached her she ran from me.  She was very skittish.

After a few giggles and some coaxing, she came closer. I told her she looked great in turquoise and we were instant friends.

Have you ever in your life seen such cuteness?

Sweatshirt dog

I could not stop laughing.  She had an invisible fence collar on and a rabies tag… but that was all.

There I stood in the road with this dog in the hooded sweatshirt (conveniently it was short-sleeved).  I stopped the mailman… he speculated on who he thought she belonged to, but I disagreed.

I know the dogs in our 'hood.

Chance was putting Penelope in the car when all $%&& broke loose… she wanted a piece of that hooded-sweatshirt dog (Penelope thinks she's a pit bull).  I thought the hooded-sweatshirt dog would eat her alive… but no… she tucked her tail and ran like lightning from Penelope.

We haven't seen her (hooded-sweatshirt dog) since.  I guess if she's outside in the cold tonight, at least she has on a sweatshirt NOT to mention a HOOD!?

Comments

  1. at least if she was going to run away from home – she got all dressed up to do so!

  2. hysterical – but I’m worried about her/him? thats an english springer spaniel like my georgie! I hope she’s ok tonight? aw – too cute!!!

too funny (and seriously so random)… like something out of twin peaks. hope she finds her way home, or back to you, the world can be scary place for hooded dogs with no written home address!

  4. Ha! Twin Peaks…too funny!
Hope she found her way home, poor gal.

  5. Awww she’s too cute. I hope she found her way home!

  6. LOL

  7. f-u-n-n-y! i’d like to curl up with her and her hood!

  8. That is too cute and hilarious, but I am also worried for her! I hope she is safely back home now (because any parent who would put her in that sweatshirt must love her completely!)

  9. That is too funny! I mean with a hood too?! So crazy – glad you snapped a photo!

  10. Oh what a fashionable doggie in your hood. My little dog is just like Penelope. Thinks he is alot bigger than he really is, but it must be something with his presence, because big dogs get totally scared and run away.
I hope she found her way home.

  11. I always love a dog in turquoise!

  12. awe thats cute and sad.
We actually rescued a dog we saw on the side of the road on sunday. No one has claimed her yet, we plan to keep her if she is never claimed.

  13. Any more sightings? I hope she went home. Do keep us posted!

  14. too funny! and i hope she found her way home.

  15. haha my dog bella has a navy blue hoodie and a camo hoodie. haha.. but she’s smaller. i’ve never seen a dog that large just randomly running down the street with a sweater on. haha

  16. Oh dear do I add to the list that I too am worried about that cutie?! Hopefully she found her way home. The good grace is she has a rabie tag so she can be traced back to their owner.
EEKS the stories I (or my husband) can share about me chasing stray dogs, and even picked up a few stray peeps!!

  17. I think that might be the first hoodie on a dog, I’ve ever seen. I would also like to point out the irony of her wearing an invisible fence collar….. I don’t think they work much then.

  18. Aww, what a cutie! Will you update us if you find/hear about the dog’s owners? There was just a story on the news the other night about how people are having to give up their pets due to these tough economic times – but she looks well loved, though, with her outfit and collar/tags.

  19. She is quite the cutie and so fashionable! Yes, please, if you do hear, please update us on whether she got home. It’s cold out there.

  20. oh wow. I don’t even know what to say about that. Is this what stay dogs look like in your upper class community? I can’t stop laughing.
I hope she made it home okay.

  21. This is the funniest picture/post!
Hoodies for dogs must be the new thing!
