In other photography news. Yesterday was Colleen’s birthday!!  A brilliant photographer, who needs a post of her own… I’ll do that soon.  So Colleen had a party yesterday afternoon… a girls-only YOLO, Sprinkles cupcakes, and champagne party… oh and margarita pops too.

It was an absolute blast!  The rain stopped just in time… we enjoyed the sunset, the water, delicious treats, and each other’s company.  I pretty much never slow down… and yesterday was just what the doctor ordered.

I officially have a YOLO board on my wish list, I think I’ve caught the YOLO-fever. Not only was it easy (I did not go in the gulf, like some of the brave girls, but rather paddled around the lake), but it was a great work out, and relaxing.

What is a YOLO board? It’s similar to a big surf board that you stand up on and use a paddle.

Straight from their website: After extensive research and development, it was determined that there was a need for more of a hybrid style stand-up paddle board–one that not only has its roots in traditional surfing but also in other related paddle sports such as canoeing and kayaking. With the endless supply of bodies of water in Florida and increasing momentum in this segment of the water sports market, YOLO BOARD was born… Standing up and paddling offers a whole new point of view: from paddling with dolphins, to sneaking up on blue crabs, to dropping in at your favorite surf-break, the act of YOLO-ing or stand up paddling has evolved from its surfing roots to a far more extensive means to enjoy time on the water from a new perspective—anywhere—anytime.

Forget spin class… it’s an awesome work-out too.

The possibilities are endless… you can even fish from a YOLO Board.

And of course, it’s always interesting to see celebrities are into it… Jennifer Anniston & Kate Hudson.

If I can do it, anyone can do it. If you are going to be in the area (Destin or South Walton)… you can rent a YOLO board… just give them a call.

If you live near a body of water… you should seriously consider buying a board. I’m saving my pennies!

ps- they are coming out with a new board called Yolo Express (if memory serves me right on the name)… it’ll be a 9’6″ board – a better size for a shorty like myself… and a little less expensive to boot!

Comments

  1. The next time I am visiting my husbands family in Florida I will try this.
I wonder if you can eat a rolo while on a yolo? :)

  2. this looks awesome- we do surf but I’m a bit rubbish, but this looks much easier!

  3. Sounds like great fun and a great workout.
I hope we are able to try it soon.

  4. So I’m not athletic in the least, and I’m actually generally terrified of trying new things (don’t I sound like a good time?), but I would LOVE to try this. It looks like so much fun!

  5. I’d give it a try if I had Anniston or Hudson’s bod!
