I took some pictures while I was in Charleston… perhaps you care to see some of them? If you are reading this post in Reader, you'll have to actually come to my blog to see all of them. I have a new sidebar item (on the left) where I have posted a photo album… I hope you enjoy!
Here are a few of my favorites. I'm drawn to details… the tiniest little ones I can find the better. I tried to capture some to share with you. Note: I could have spent the entire 6 days photographing gardens and driveways… it seems as though in Charleston at the end of every driveway there is a little surprise. I am very inspired for Spring and my yard better look out- I have all sorts of ideas, now I just gotta find a way to come up with the money! And of course I managed to find a dog and a cat that wanted their photo taken… and my precious nephew was there, and who can resist a baby? And my husband is a champion,I walked his legs off… so he was worthy of photographing too!
We stayed here: The Charleston Place & on Isle of Palms the first 2 nights in a vacation rental (compliments of the groom's family)
We ate here: Hominy Grill, Jestine's Kitchen, McCrady's, Madriver, Southend Brewery, Dunkin' Donuts
We enjoyed these festivities: Aquarium, Hibernian Hall (wedding reception), Charleston Yacht Club (day of wedding brunch), and a carriage tour by Old South Carriage Co
Shopped here: Elizabeth Stewart Design and South of Market (and a few other places that aren't worthy of mentioning, like Banana Republic and Gap)
Charleston was a charming city, that I was not ready to leave… I needed about 10 more days there. Which is great, it just means we'll have to go back again. If you haven't been… YOU NEED TO GO!!

I agree, Charleston is fabulous! We came back from our honeymoon with more pictures of driveways and gardens and shutters (and that bike in front of the Blue Bicycle Books!) than of ourselves.
It looks lovely. I really need to take a trip to the South. I’ve only been to Louisiana once. I love all of the architecture and details that are part of Southern living.
I love love Charleston!!!! I’m glad you had a great time!! I really wanted to move there, to bad it is saturated with dentist otherwise you could of visited us while you were there.
Gorgeous photos and my garden has never looked more pathetic.
Love the pictures! Oh, it inspires me to get out and shoot some pics (and buy that 50 mm lens
. Thanks for sharing. What a fun trip!
Bike + colorful books = BEST thing ever!
Sister… you captured it all! I love you!
i love the details!
love your photos! are your hubby’s eyes really that blue? i hope to visit there one day soon.
GREAT photos. Thanks for the garden inspiration. Especially love the wrought-iron fences and shutters.
When we were there for our honeymoon every book on the bike in front of the Blue Bicycle Bookstore was blue. I’m sure there’s a picture of it somewhere. As my wife has already mentioned we took more pictures of signs, houses, gardens, cobblestone, window boxes, cemeteries, etc than we did of each other.
nice pictures. looks for clean and fresh.
I’m so glad you loved Charleston, my hometown! I was tickled to see the house I lived in before I got married in photo 235; it’s the carriage house in the back. I’m pregnant with twins and reading about you and your sister makes me even more excited!
Love every picture! Such a great city- now I need your expertise- I need a great rug for my keeping room off of our kitchen-can be custom size or I can use an 8x 10 Love sisal and have looked at synethetic sisal but looks so plastic! Think…3 kids…new labrador dog….and needs to withstand–FIRE–FLOODS— SPILLS and pretty much anything else my active family can throw at it- Any Ideas????
i LOVE to travel with you. wait. i didn’t actually go. all your pics are so great, i just thought i did. a new place to add to my “must see” list. and that JM sure is looking like that rascally raiger these days!! what kind of camera do you use? you have a great eye!! any suggestions? or is it all in the macro lens?
Erika~I’m so glad that you had such a wonderful time in my old hometown! It is such an incredible place…I miss it! Y’all did a wonderful job of hitting some of the best spots for good food and shopping! I’m impressed!
Erika! Your photo want me to stop what I’m doing (cleaning out the basement) and head to Charleston!! Your photos are so beautiful! You are so my shehero!!
The College of Charleson is my Alma Mater and Charleston will forever be where my heart lies! Next time, try Fourchette, High Cotton, FIG, Rue de Jean, and Virgina’s on King-some of our favorites in addition to the ones you listed (McCradys and Jestine’s are top!)
Lovely photos! You make me want to visit!
Man, those drives are impeccable… is that what a cobblestone street looks like? I never knew.
I visited the College of Charleston when I was ‘college hunting’…now I’m so upset I didn’t go there! What was I thinking? Colorado was cold, the charm of Charleston is irresistible! Simply, GORG! Love those pretty pictures..you need to publish a book of your photos..I want an autographed copy, …not like you don’t probably have 1,000,000 other things going on!
Your photos are fabulous and I cannot believe how BLUE your husband’s eye are.
Kim
I am schocked, no plumbing photos?
I think you need to go back.
I NEED to go. I sent my parents to Charleston for a weekend as a thank you for throwing me a wonderful wedding and I wish i had tagged along. It looks so lovely!
loved Charleston when we went for a weekend getaway. We ate at a restaurant called Poogan’s Porch (spelling might be off) and had the best shrimp and grits I ever did taste. What a charming place!

This was a nice throwback to when I lived there. I miss the walks I used to take around the city whenever I need a break. It was the perfect quick escape to another world.
Great photos. I love how the two horses have turned to look at you. As if to say, “Hullo!”
I lived there for THREE wonderful years. Thank you for taking me back. OHHHHHHHH now I miss it still!
