Monday, Monday

Bayn (my brother-in-law) informed me yesterday that my blog needs to be updated more often.  I had to remind him what all has been going on in my life lately.  I didn't mention the work and the emails that I can't even find time to respond to… but because I love him (and you, my readers) here I am.  I am making an attempt to do better.

I'm pulling some stuff from my favorites… and today it is this:

Muff_house_court

This house is in Charleston, SC… where I recently traveled, but somehow missed this gem.

It belongs to Muffie, who runs ESD (Elizabeth Stewart Designs) in Charleston… where I did happen to visit.  I bought a couple things and enjoyed the shop immensely. Courtney interviewed Muffie's take on art collecting… it's an awesome post and such a great reminder that art needs to be loved- not something you pick just to "decorate". Read more about Muffie in these posts.

And something else wonderful from Style Court. Haskell Harris (was at Cottage Living, now at Garden & Gun) must have provided Courtney with these photos of her house in Birmingham… they are large images (click on them) and soak them all up.  They are good.  Haskell is blogging too… check her out here.

Remember her bedroom?

Well, here's her living room…

It all suits the house so well…

  1. Oh that collage of prints and mirrors above her desk is spectacular!

  2. I just think it is neat your brother-in-law reads your blog. (just is a testimony to who you really are to people). I do have to say, that although I do understand how much you are all going through, I kind of selfishly agree I like to see something new in here. :-)

  3. i just saw this cottage and wonderful decor in southern living (i think)!

erika, those photos were on realty south when her house was for sale. i saved them for future inspiration. we also went to see the house, just because it was so beautiful. it is only 5 minutes away. one of my favorites!!

  5. Haskell’s house is one of my absolute favorites. I think because it seems so attainable for someone our age!

  6. Thanks for being so kind to us. As much as we love you and your style, taking care of family biz comes first. :)

we love you e. and the post… had so much fun yesterday with you and your baby bump:)

  8. I LOVE haskell’s house. I agree with Blueprint Bliss..it is attainable. It has such great details and i love that it is a cottage and not huge. i love the bathroom. I finally got to see this month’s southern living where she is featured.

  9. I love that house! Especially the black door. I’ve been considering painting my door black (we have a combination of white siding, red brick, black shutters). Should I take the plunge? Anybody have tips?
    Thx!

  10. Garden & Gun? Who knew! Thanks for the info, I have already checked out Haskell’s blog!

  11. Great photos! You always have the best inspiration pix.

  12. Oh wow…you know, I lived in Charleston for 8 years (just moved) and never once came across that house…it’s stunning. As is Haskell’s house…just beautiful. Hope all is well!

  13. YEAH, more of E!! I’ll take that any day.

  14. Yum! Love Haskells house… can I move in tomorrow. Great post… glad your back! Now we all really want a belly shot! Don’t you know a photographer???? :)

  15. I feel like I’ve been a little bummed lately with less posts too, but I just go back and re-read your older ones! That’s my trick! I don’t know how many times I go back to your PAINT post!

  16. muffie recently started a blog too…check on her website…esdcharleston.com

  17. Well, Hello You!! Charming house (which I always appreciate), but I’m with Darby – I think we deserve a Bump Pic!!! :)

  18. Thank you, Bayn.

  19. Erika, thanks for the kind shout out.
    Warmest,
    Courtney

  20. Oh and yes, Haskell and her mom were really generous. They shared family portraits with me and answered lots of questions! Haskell sent over some alternate shots of the Birmingham cottage also.

I’m sure you already know the company; but in case you haven’t seen their work, Serena & Lily have the most beautiful fabrics and custom furniture for children.
