My momma, cousin, and aunt are in town. And while I wish I could say I've been playing and hanging out with them, the unfortunate truth is – I've been in the office more than I have been with them. This makes me sad. On Sunday afternoon, in anticipation of their visit, I baked these:
I left out the pecans. This would disappoint my father-in-law he is a pecan lover and cultivator extraordinaire. I redeemed myself, in place of the pecans I added Heath Toffee Bits.
The cookies are delicious, you should make them!
recipe from Cottage Living

Yummy that look amazing! I love the addition of the Heath Toffee bits. Sorry to hear you’ve been busy at work and not able to hang with the ladies as much as you like.
Here is a solution. Make them go in with you and put them to work!
Yumm-a-roo!!!
Think I can smell them through my laptop {drool}
oohh those look so good..i need to go back through all my old CL’s and copy recipes i’d like to try.
yum. wish I had time to make these right now! hope you are having fun with everyone. xoxo
yum… I’m going to make these. NOW.
yummy!! looks like making these will become a priority on my “to do list”. enjoy your family!!
Oh yum! I tore this page out too hoping to make them someday. I love the photo. My college roomate always put Heath bits in brownies and they were super good!
mmm…. these look good! I’ll have to try them this week or weekend – hope you’re able to spend some more time with your family before they leave!
Hi Erika…I found your blog through your sister’s, and hers through Abby Maddox’s…anyway, I love reading it every time you post something new.
I, too, tore this out page out of the first edition of Cottage Living years ago, and have made these cookies over and over again (also omitting the pecans). They are by far the best oatmeal cookies I’ve ever put in my mouth.
I have no (or very little) style, and your blog inspires me to want to at least try harder to make my house cool
Oh, and I just had a little girl a year ago so I can’t help but be excited for you!
Erin over at Elements of style did a pretty neato mod nursery for you… Did you see? Those knobs from anthro? *swoon* The dresser is gorgeous too!
Painting the ceiling of a nursery is also tres chic & fun for baby to check out while (hopefully) relaxing in her crib.
I made oatmeal raisin cookies yesterday (the delish recipe comes from my favorite cookbook – the Bride and Groom First and Forever Cookbook) but these look amazing too! Thanks for sharing the recipe, I will definitely be trying them!
I have but one word for you…. YUMMY!!!
Hope you are able to break away and spend some time with your special visitors.
Note to self: Buy Heath Bits!
Great idea – thanks!
Yum! Thanks for sharing the recipe. You know me I can’t resist a good sweet treat!! I’ll try them soon!! Love you and hope you’re getting to see your fam today!!
this does sound yummy especially with the heath bits.
I’m sad that you’ve had to work ss well:( I’m so happy to get to spend the next few days with you pool side and all together!! I hope your clients appreciate your devotion to your job! Love you!!
Cousin
Oh yes, I’ve made these – premiere issue of cottage living. The chiken enchiladas from this issue are also pretty tasty

Hi Erika! It’s Courtney, Jack Mazzola’s little sis. He led me to your website and blog. He keeps saying, “You’ll LOVE Erika’s work!” And I do! I really, really do. I am in the process of decorating our new rental home (husband, Justin Riggin, moves around a lot with his job, so we can’t buy yet). And your site inspires me! You should start an “Erika’s Style” magazine! I would subscribe. Hope all is well. And congratulations on the little bundle of expectancy!
