some mother’s day ideas…

I’m on a blogging roll.  If I try to dye a wool rug I will let you know… I’m the type who would go for a graphic pattern, like a plaid on the diagonal, and make myself crazy in the process.  Speaking of pattern… did everyone see Mrs. Blandings’ floor cloth she created for Dining By Design?  I painted a floor cloth once and the process about broke my back, but it was a fun alternative to an area rug, less expensive, and pretty durable too.

As I mentioned yesterday it’s almost Mother’s Day, and I now qualify as a gift recipient.  The best gift of all is my daughter who qualifies me as such, but a few other little morsels that might bring a smile…

a. Chan Luu b. gold wishbone on tobacco c. bungalow 5 gray lamp, love the pleated shade (I sense a comeback)   d. WSHome Meade e. Essie Peach Daiquiri f. John D g. books from my wish list h. a pair of tall cast iron planters, can’t remember where I found the picture

Okay, so the bedside table may not classify as a “little morsel”, but love the lines.  Those are all really fun, but in all seriousness… when my husband asked last week what I wanted, I mentioned a bird bath for my garden.

That one is from Wisteria, but I am a bit concerned about the depth of the bowl (mosquito breeding ground?).  I saw a great concrete faux bois birdbath at KMart last year (with a shallower basin), so if my gift giver is reading: check KMart first.  Oh and one more little item that my sister turned me onto: Cooks Country magazine… a subscription would be welcomed.

  1. Eddie & Jaithan just blogged about a faux bois birdbath! I’ve never heard of Cook’s Country but after seeing Darby’s ice cream post, it looks like I have a new magazine to pick up!

  2. I love your blog! I just did a post on the dogeared necklaces I want for mothers day too :)

  3. great ideas, just a moment ago I was looking at Chan Luu, love the bracelets

  4. Happy Mothers day to one of my favorite mommas in blogland!!! xoxo

  7. You are on a roll! Thanks for the shout out. It was my knees that paid the price. And that WSHome table – hadn’t seen that. Full on love.

  8. Okay . . . so I’m dying to hear how your Wonderbar is! I NEVER spend any money on myself – but for some reason this wonderbar intrigued me and I’m wondering how you like it!?! Happy Mother’s Day!

  9. Great gift ideas. I think I might have to check out the magazine…

  10. I love the Make A Wish necklaces! I got one last year while struggling to get pregnant, put it on and a couple of weeks later got a positive pregnancy test. That necklace stayed with me all the way through the first trimester – falling off once I started week 13! My beautiful twin girls are a blessing from God and came into our lives when He wanted them to, but that little necklace sure made me feel better about the wait!

  11. Love, love, love your list – Happy Mother’s Day to you!

  12. I’ll take C and D please :)!

  13. I’m looking for a bird bath, too! Keep ‘em comin’, Mama!!

  14. LOVE all these things. Especially that bedside table!! Thanks to my little nieces I had my nails hot pink for a few weeks, but they started chipping off and I couldn’t find my nail polish remover. Then I’d find myself in meetings with clients pointing to exquisite fabrics with my cruddy hot pink finger… NOT a good selling point! Just warning you. ;)

  15. This is the first time that I am visiting your blog. Love the photos and comments.

  16. Hi Erika,

  18. Has anyone found the cast iron planter above? It is exactly what I have been looking for….I have searched and searched but can’t find it anywhere!
