spades

Forgive me if you’ve already seen this.  I don’t get out much, but last night I stumbled across The Selby’s coverage of Kate & Andy Spade’s home.

[ps- We are working on a post to answer all your questions about Marla's house and the HGTV photo shoot post... stay tuned.]

simply put: perfectly imperfect! la la love it!
hope you had a nice break with the familia!

  2. Oh my. I think I need a headboard like that.

  3. I have a mild obsession with the Spades and have always really pics of their gorgeous apartment. But the Selby pics? WOW! So amazing!

  4. I can’t handle all the stacks of books!

Ps. I’m still super weirded out by the fact that David Spade is his brother. How on earth are they from the same family?

  5. I forgot how much I loved their apartment. Their art placement makes it feel like it’s in Paris. Lovely and very warm. Some times never get old and our worth another post.

  6. I love it! I love all the artwork/pictures on the walls and everything else too!

  7. I saw a piece on them and they also drive a 2002 BMW from 1977, which was also my first car. My parents surprised me when I turned sixteen, but the car only lasted 12 days because someone hit me and that beautiful vintage car was destroyed. I have always thought they were pretty cool because of that.

  8. I have always loved Kate Spade and her style. These photos are amazing and showcase her and her home perfectly.

  9. This is fascinating, but overwhelming at first. There is just so much there, and it definitely reflects many layers and decades worth of making a home and collecting. On closer inspection, it’s delightful. Around all the art and books, the fabrics and finishes have so much personality. You can definitely find that blend of bold colors and quirky/classic touches they distill in their brand. Thanks for posting this!

  10. Candace Horner says:

Oh that kitchen is delicious!! And I can finally stop agonizing over artwork placement, more is obviously better! and I am comforted to know my knack for stacking books in every room is so very tasteful after all!! yay!

  11. I know that I will be the only one that says this…but, I don’t like it. It stresses me out. There is a level of arrogance I don’t care for.

  12. I wonder what paint was used for the kitchen? I love that grey!

  13. They can do no wrong… just stunning and charming and perfect!

  14. Wow! I feel so much better about the fact that I can’t for the life of me get my ivory mantle clean – we, too actually use our fireplace and the only way to make it look clean is to paint and re-paint and RE-PAINT. If Kate Spade can have a dirty mantle, so can I. I love, repreat, l.o.v.e. Kate Spade handbags and shoes – they are classic and chic and tidy looking, however, my house is not always and now I know I am not alone! Thanks for posting!! PS – yowza, he’s David Spade’s brother??? OMG!

  15. Wooow…. this is good stuff!

  16. Don’t you love the art and color?!!!

  17. wow. love it. looks very homey but chic at the same time! love that entryway with gallery walls to the floor and that herringbone wood floor!

  18. Beautiful…and So happy to read you’re putting together a post on Marla’s house! xx

  19. I never knew what Kate looked like till now. Can’t wait to read the post on Marla’s house!

  20. Love a place that actually looks like people live in it…it is warm and very inviting. Thank you for sharing with others who don’t get out much either.

  21. Hooray! So I CAN have books piled everywhere – plus she has my kitchen floor that I was afraid was way out of style. (So glad to know I am in good company with my books and floor).

  22. I have been dying to see more pictures of their house. Thanks for sharing.

  23. LOVE it! Fabulous taste…of course, she’s a Kansas City girl! ;)

  24. love it! we’re waiing to see pics of your kitchen, too!!!

  25. I’m with Kathy and obviously in the minority, but it’s just not my style (and I have zero style, so take my comments with a grain of salt :) ). But the stacked books, pictures all over the wall and “stuff” everywhere would drive me crazy! I love Kate’s bags and shoes, but I’ll have to pass on the apartment. Still eagerly awaiting the pics of your kitchen and can’t wait for the details!

  26. Belch

  27. Yes – I’m with Jess, I’d love to see your kitchen!

  28. David Spade is his brother? That’s so weird. I LOVE Kate Spade! My last two purses have been hers. That’s not what I expected her to look like. I think I imagined someone that looked a little more like…um…YOU. Hee-hee!

  29. My favorite part is all of their art. Too pretty for words. Then of course their quirky luxe thing that they do so well. And lastly I love seeing that it’s not magazine staged. Gotta love The Selby.

  30. What a fun glimpse in to their home….love it.

  31. Its genius really. I wonder if it will be an iconic interior?

  32. Still waiting pictures of your kitchens! From the sneak peek, you painted the cabinets the same color as mine. I’ve had them since 2005 and still love them!

  33. Her bedroom makes me crazy- I ADORE that yellow bed!

  34. interesting but looks too dirty

  35. I feel like this is one of the first posts that has people either loving the design or hating it. I’m a hater. It would make my OCD-ness go into overdrive. It’s funny though because her purses and bags are so simple and chic, and not busy at all. Interesting.

  36. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at these pictures and I NEVER tire of them! What a FAB place with so many interesting layers.

  37. I am with the folks who don’t care for it – parts are lovely – especially the kitchen – but overall way too cluttered for my taste and as MFAMB pointed out, he is smoking in bed with shoes on!!!

  38. Dionne Holt says:

That’s David Spade’s Sister in law. That’s Davids brother. Looks like him and that home looks like NYC. Clutter, but everything well placed. I’m amazed how busy yet absolutely beautiful and easy it is to the eye!

  39. Mary Frances says:

I love their entry, and the wallcovering in their bedroom…but I was sad to see how AGED they both look…I taped a program on the Style network a few years ago(before it went straight to hell with reality shows!)called “Stylemakers” profiling Kate Spade…they both looked so fresh and inspired…both were in their mid to late thirties…running an empire can put a lot of mileage on your odometer!

  40. It’s really beautiful as well as looking comfortable!

  41. I love and adore Kate Spade. She is so talented.

    BUT.

Is it just me or does she look 90 years old in those glasses? I did not even recognize her at first!
