plate racks

Last week as Allison loaded up that plate rack we had the conversation that you really don’t see plate racks that often.
Which prompted her to google, and then later to create a pinboard on pinterest of plate racks.

  1. oh my….this might be just what I have been looking for to replace the art in my kitchen when I repaint! (I have been planning to repaint for a year now- so we will see how this goes)
SOOOO pretty! Love all of the white plates- but especailly loved the one with the very colorful plates- cool!

  2. I have been reading your blog for a while and am so inspired. Is that a pallett that was converted into a plate rack… be still by heart. I am in love. Genius.

  3. I actually love them, when they’re streamlined. Now, I’m off to find her on Pinterest (could that site BE any more addictive?!)

    Happy Easter!!

  4. I just started followig you on pinterest! I’m officially obsessed with that site… fun! Liked your ‘Google’ sign you pinned. So true!!

  5. drooling over the white kitchen with the marble tabletop…and those chairs…WOW! too fab.

  6. Pretty ones are hard to find! A few years ago I was looking for one to use as a book rack in my son’s room and couldn’t find them for sale anywhere!

  7. I’ve always loved the plate rack because they remind me of the Welsh cupboard, but alas, I have not had the wall space for one. I thought about putting one on my outside porch but then I found the find of a lifetime at a garage sale, a Welsh cupboard. It is not the real thing, but most folks have no idea since the maker used old woods. And the reason, I snagged it? It is a tad over 7 feet long. It is now the dominant piece in my….living room! And for the girl who wanted a plate rack for a book rack, tell her to check out the Ikea spice racks. I have seen people use those with great success.

  8. I have been looking for a unique way to display my Ky Derby glasses. These plate racks, with a slight alteration, have given me a great idea for how to display the glasses. I wanted to avoid any type of ‘curio look’. Thanks.

  9. I love cute plate rack. I have a Welsh dresser with a plate rack top but I like these wall ones a lot!!1

  10. Adore!xx

  11. um, thanks. now i want a frickin’ black plate rack.

  12. Love, love, love pictures 2 and 4. Happy weekend!!!

  13. LOVE! Love the black one at the end!

  14. So loving that pallet plate rack

  15. Michelle says:

LOVE plate racks and have been on the hunt for one for my home. Thanks so much for the inspiration. :) Happy Easter!

  16. I think people don’t use them because you can’t find them!! At least not worthy ones. Or at least I can’t find them. I don’t know. Ever since I saw the really long one behind a sofa in a Southern Living article years ago … did you see it?? the one filled with photos rather than plates?? Anyway, I’ve been on the hunt ever since then for one. Well, maybe not really on the hunt, but more hoping one would show up on my doorstep without me looking for it. Wouldn’t that be nice:).

    Happy Easter to you all!

  17. I love those World Market plates – I have them and LOVE them, they hold up really well and are so pretty!

  18. Great images i love to see plates displayed its a waste hiding them in cupboards. The natural unfinished wood plate rack is gorgeous

  19. Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition in Traditional Homes magazine. When you update your blog, please keep the link so we can easily cast our vote for you. Thanks!

Hey ERIKA! are we going to get kitchen pictures soon?! i can’t wait to see them!

  21. Wow is all i can say! I love it! Love the vintage pieces and the grass cloth!

  22. great idea!! love the collections of all white plates!

  23. You did a great job! I love the painted cabinets and open shelves. LOVE! Every time I see (well) painted cabinets I drool. I so have a desire to paint mine, but taking that step gives me such anxiety I fear it might never happen! This is coming from the girl that after, almost a year in her house has not selected a single piece of decor (no exaggeration, our walls are bare)! I have never been able to describe my own “style”, but I have come to realize, I do have a style. It is “minimalist”, hee hee. That sounds much better than procrastinator or fear of commitment!

  24. So that’s how I should have been storing my big plates and platters all these years! I just love these. Thanks for the gorgeous inspiration. :)

  25. Oooo such pretty plate racks – too hard to choose a favorite here. I’ve got this linked to my plate racks post today, thanks for the inspiration!

  26. I just found a plate rack at an antique’s mall. I have been on the hunt for one for awhile now to put above my buffet in my dining room. Bigger ones are especially hard to find, the one I bought was a little more than what I wanted to spend, but I figured I may never find one again.
