‘Tis the season to be merry

As most of you know by now, we love Tastes Orangey.  Her artwork blends nature with human emotions in a very beautiful and dramatic way.  And because it’s the season of giving,  Clare was so gracious to offer 5 incredibly lucky winners their choice of one 13 x 19 print.  Any of her wonderful prints can be made into the larger size. Here is a sampling if some of her new pieces that all of us around here love.

    Amy R.

  18. My favorite is the First Noel :)

  19. My favorite Christmas song is “Hard Candy Christmas” by Dolly Parton. It’s amazing!

  20. I’ve always loved Silent Night. It reminds me of when I was little and we’d go to the midnight service on Christmas eve. Silent night was the last song played–all the lights would be turned off for that one song, so that the church was just lit by candles. Then the bell choir would start the opening chords of Silent night. I got goosebumps then and get them now just remembering!

  21. “Baby it’s Cold Outside”. That one gets me every time. :)

  22. What beautiful paintings!!!! My fave has to be “Baby its cold outside” by Willie Nelson and Norah Jones

  23. My favorite Christmas song is “Joy to the World.” It’s always the last hymn we sing during the Christmas Eve service at our church, and I just love it!

  24. My favorite holiday song in “Christmas in New Orleans”- Louis Armstrong. Thanks so much for doing this, LOVE these prints :)

  25. Mine is David Phelps’ version of “Mary Did You Know?” and the old school “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” I’m an old soul at heart. :) Her pictures are beautiful!

  26. Wow. Beautful. My favorite song is “Oh Holy Night.”

  27. I have two current favorites– first up– “Ring Those Bells”… it is played at least 50 times a day in this house and is often accompanied by dancing. Can anyone say 4 year old Christmas concert performance? Let’s just say that my son is taking his part in the performance VERY seriously. Practice makes perfect :) And my second favorite is “Deck the Halls”– simply because it’s the only song my one year old can pull off— fa la la la la…

  28. I think I’d have to go with “Oh Holy Night.” Thanks for a great giveaway – hope I win!

  29. My current fave is White Christmas by Michael Buble and Shania Twain. So fun to listen to!

  30. I like Rockin around the Christmas Tree

  31. My favorite is “City Bells” because I live and work in a large city and I think the song captures the beauty of the bright lights and a festive atmosphere that is present here at Christmas time.

July and August ain’t no time for city living.

  32. Mine is “The First Noel.” I like pretty much any version, but heard Carrie Underwood’s for the first time recently and it’s nice. Thanks!

  33. My favorite song is “Noel” and, at this time of year, I find myself singing it ALL the time – at least an hour a day!! Everytime I see any decoration with the word “Noel”, my head reads/sings it as “Noooeeellll, Nooooeeell, Nooooeeell, Nooooeeell” – in other words, I just start singing it! And then an hour later I’m still humming it and my husband says “Are you singing that song AGAIN!!??!?” Ha! :o)

  34. Johnny Cash’s “Silent Night”
hanging in front of a fire with loved ones…does not get better than that ;)

  35. Robert Earl Keen’s “Merry Christmas from the Family”…if you haven’t heard it yet, its a must. We joke that its about my Dad’s side of the family…but really, it has to be. We put the FUN in dysFUNctional

  36. “Winter Song” that keeps playing on my “She and Him” pandora station.

  37. “Oh, Holy Night” as performed by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill. That song gives me chill bumps every time I watch that performance.

  38. Ale Cretul says:

It’s not Christmas without Wham’s “Last Christmas”!

  39. “Christmastime is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas! I love watching the special every year, hearing Linus’s speech, and then listening to the soundtrack while wrapping gifts.

  40. Katherine Benson says:

It’s an odd favorite, but my 2 year old agrees – “Christmas Don’t Be Late” by David Seville and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Classic, campy, and just annoying enough to make it our favorite.

  41. My favorite Christmas-y song is “Closing of the Year”. It’s from that {terrible} early-90′s Christmas movie “Toys”, but is such an amazing song!

  42. My new favorite is “Cold December Night” by Michael Buble. Love it!

  43. Hard to choose, but I love “Must Have Been Ol’ Santa Claus” by Harry Connick Jr!

  47. These prints are absolutely gorgeous! It’s so hard to pick a favorite song! I was reminded of so many as i read through the comments. I’m loving the new Michael Buble’ album right now, but I have to agree with someone above who put Winter Snow by Audrey Assad and Chris Tomlin. Amazing song!

  48. My favorite of all is “last christmas” by Wham….

  49. Brian Setzer’s Run, Run Rudolph. Gets us up and dancing every time! Its also in a classic Christmas movie, Home Alone…to quote: Buzz, your girlfriend, WOOF! ;)

  50. Jennifer Lee says:

It’s difficult to pick one, I have several favorites. But the one that keeps popping in my head is “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Vince Vance and the Valiants. Don’t ask me, I don’t know why! Thanks for the giveaway!

  51. I love “Silent Night.” Especially at midnight mass when they turn off all the lights in the church and everyone sings by candlelight…I cry everytime because it is just so beautiful to watch everyone take a moment and truly enjoy the meaning of Christmas.

Oh and I also love to get down to Harry Connick’s “The Happy Elf” with my little nuggets!!! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  52. Winter wonderland!

  53. “Do you hear what I hear?” performed by Whitney Houston. Classic Whitney sound…I love it!

  54. Love these! I have two favorites. 1. Winter Song by Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles. Beautiful harmony and you can almost feel winter when you listen. 2. Fairytale of New York by the Pogues featuring Kristy MacColl. Very different but if you can get past the harshness of his voice and imagine yourself in a pub in Ireland singing to the rafters with a crowd, you just might feel warm and fuzzy!

  55. It’s been performed by a lot of people, but my current favorite is “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by She & Him. Love!

Also, the first print above is on my wish list, so I’m crossing my fingers on this one…

  56. I am a sucker for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. It was the first CD I ever owned, and it still puts me in the Christmas spirit!

  57. I gotta go with “Once in Royal David’s City” — one of the more obscure Christmas hymns, but such a beautiful song full of beautiful truth…Go google the lyrics!

  58. Mine is a toss up between Judy Garland – White Christmas, and “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas” only because it makes me smile

  59. Southside Johnny Lyon “Please Come Home For Christmas”
When this song first comes on during the holiday season it always reminds me of my childhood and watching “Home Alone.” After dating for 7 years, my husband and I are finally getting to spend our first Christmas together!

  60. I just don’t even know what it says about me that my favorite Christmas tune is currently ‘Mistletoe’ by Justin Bieber?! I have never understood the teeny-bopper obsession with him… until I heard this song and found myself dreaming of meeting him under the mistletoe?!!? He’s good, ladies. Look out.

  61. “of the father’s love begotten” sung by a choir… perfection. i love those paintings! breathtaking.

  66. It’s not really a Christmas song, as it is a song about Christmas and family interactions. Imogen Heap’s “Just for Now” is a conversation amongst family members during the holidays. And it’s not always a pretty conversation, but it is a pretty song.

  67. I love her artwork! My favorite Christmas song has to be “Baby its cold outside” – the Holidays are so wonderful!

  68. Eagles – “Please Come Home for Christmas”!

  78. I love the entire Sufjan Stevens christmas cd… so any of those would be my fav.

  79. At this time in my life, my favorite song is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree due to the fact that I love to hear my triplets sing it and substitute different words for the words they don’t know in the song. Favorites include “voices singin’ let’s be Tommy” (instead of jolly) and “everyone dancin’ hairy-ly in the new old-fashioned waaaaaay!” Gotta love it!

  90. ‘White Christmas’ by Otis Redding. I love me some Otis Redding.

  91. Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey

  92. My favorite is “Tender Tennessee Christmas” by Amy Grant. It has been my parents “song” for probably 25 years (since they lived in Georgia). They had no idea that they would end up raising both of their children right in the exact middle of TN. Now that my parents have moved to North Carolina, I can’t help but feel at home every time I hear that song. =) warm fuzzies.

  93. Hands down it’s Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton. I’ve loved it since I was girl…even though I had no idea what it meant. Now as an adult, I still love it becuase it reminds me of my wonderful childhood Christmases. Kinda the exact opposite of the lyrics of the song…oh well.

  96. Apparently, it’s Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”!! The other night, I was on my way to pick up takeout for dinner, and I was bopping along and singing at the top of my lungs to this song. I swoosh into the parking space, sit there while the song finishes, and get out, thinking nothing of it. A few shameful seconds later, I look up and there is a group of teenagers sitting outside, looking at me. LOL Needless to say, at nearly 33-years-old, I felt a teeny bit silly! I also LOVE “Joy to the World”. It has caused me less embarrassment, too. :)

  108. My favorite is a song that was always in our church Christmas pageant when I was growing up. It’s called “The Lord Is With You.” It’s a goosebump-inducing trio between Mary, Joseph and Gabriel that gives each of their perspectives on the anticipation of Jesus’ arrival. For years I’ve just been singing parts that I could remember to myself, but I finally found it on iTunes this year! :)

  109. As a “newer” song, I like “Snowfall” by Ingrid Michaelson. First heard it at Anthropologie and love it! And my favorite traditional song is “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”. Preferably Buble’s version!

Growing up, at the Christmas music program in the church where I grew up, this was the song that the choir would enter the sanctuary singing. They process down the long aisle then fill the choir loft while carrying lit candles. The song begins quietly and builds beautifully as the choir moves from single file lines to a large group. At the end of the song they blow the candles out in unison. This song especially signifies the real reason for the season for me; it quiets my heart—even if it’s just for a little while—and let’s me enjoy Christmas. 477. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan. I. Love. This. Song. Lots of Christmas songs make me cry like a baby, particularly in church. Or if kids are singing them in church. It’s over for me. Or cue up Silent Night on Christmas Eve in the candlelight service and I’m a disaster.

But this one makes me feel like belting it out, like maybe I could match Sarah M. note for note. Which of course I can’t, but I love the harmony, I love the beat, I love crooning along with her anyway. It’s such a fun version of the song and it’s not secular, which most of the “fun” songs are, ie Up on the Roof Top, Jingle Bells, Rudolph, so I don’t have to feel like I’m serenading my kids about getting more toys and what not. Because believe me, when this song comes on, there’s some serenading happening in the Hottessy Odyssey.

On Christmas Eve, my two siblings and I put on the Chipmunk Christmas album every year as we are cleaning up the dishes at my Momma’s house and it makes everyone laugh so hard our sides hurt- it’s either because of my brother’s spot on Alvin impersonation, or perhaps we’ve had too much Christmas Coke, or maybe we’re simply delirious after opening presents and seeing droves of family members in my Mother’s over 8 hour Christmas Eve annual event! “Me I want a hula hoop…” but one of these gorgeous works of art would make an amazing gift for my sweet Momma from her three little grown up chipmunks! 574. I like them all! Joy to the World, Oh Holy Night, Christmas In Dixie, etc…..I’m the person who gets up on Friday after Thanksgiving and searches for the all Christmas station!

  575. Oh..this is easy. I am Baltimore, born and bred. “Crabs for Christmas” is the hands down favorite. Old Bay seasoning cures any ailment.
    Very happy holiday to you.

  576. Aryn A. Guillory says:

My favorite Christmas song is just the good ole Happy Birthday song. Chrismtas is all about Jesus’ Birthday! We always make a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas and our family always gathers around and sings Happy Birthday to Jesus. It’s a fun tradition! Aryn

  577. Aryn A. Guillory says:

sorry i mispelled CHRISTMAS in my second sentence :)

  578. Lori Murphy says:

Ditto on the Amy Grant “Breathe of Heaven”…so calm and such a reminder of the season. Especially when listening to it with a cup of hot chocolate and the only lights on are from the tree.

On the flipside, nothing beats Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”
(and i looove these prints – the colors are wonderful!)
    Merry Christmas!

  579. Current favorite is “Baby it’s Cold Outside” by She and Him. I truly love all christmas music though it makes things magical!

    Thank you!

  585. “Sweet Little Jesus Boy”. A lady at my church sings it every year, but Mahalia Jackson has a great version too.

  586. Amy Roeser says:

“Hard Candy Christmas”, by Dolly Parton. Just love it!

  587. Hands Down – No Question About It – Tennessee Christmas, by Amy Grant!

  588. Just good old Jingle Bells! Love singing the traditional songs with the kiddos!

  591. I tear up every single time I hear “Little Drummer Boy” – doesn’t matter who is singing it – it gets me every time! Merry Christmas!

  592. I love “Mary Did You Know.” Kenny Rogers & Wynonna version is great, but so is Rascal Flatts’.

  593. Another Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogleberg beautifully and sad! But really I love Christmas music and could listen to it year ’round!

  594. The Jerry Garcia Band plays several instramental versions of a few of my fav Christmas songs. Jingle Bells and a few others.. Out of the ordinary, I know! I am a surgical nurse & they work nicely in the O.R. :)

  595. Seeing the painting of the girl with her arms wrapped around the black dog made me cry. Last week, while out on a walk in our neighborhood with my 9 year old daughter (and I was waiting outside our house), our little black dog was mauled to death by a 180 lb. Mastiff who was not on a leash. It was tragic on a number of levels. First, that my younger daughter had to witness it, that my older daughter had to see my walking up the street carrying our little guy in a blanket and for me, having to see him take his last breaths in the arms of the Mastiff’s owner. It has been a tough week. There was a large blessing though. My 9 year old daughter was not hurt and listened to us when we had always told her that if a dog was to come running at her, never pick our dog up and drop the leash. This she did. Thankfully.

My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night” sung by Josh Groban.

  596. Dana Chaffee says:

Baby It’s Cold Outside! The version by Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer is classic. Or you can’t go wrong with Dean Martin. . .

  597. “Just tell us your favorite Christmas song”?? Like, pick your favorite kid? So many favorites, but most of them are on James Taylor’s Christmas CD. My favorite is “Who Comes This Night” about who braves the winter storm to visit the baby Jesus. The children come to lay their hearts before him. Gentle, sweet, melodic James.

  598. ” When Christmas Comes to Town” from Polar Express but only because my son’s class had to sing it last year for a program. They each had a line and the little girl who had the line “presents for the children wrapped in red and green” sang it “presents for the chirrren…”. Now every time I hear it I think about that. So sweet, funny and typical Alabama all at the same time. :)

  599. My favorite is “Mary Did You Know?” — such a fitting reminder of the true meaning of Christmas and now, as I look at my old sweet babies, I can’t listen without shedding a tear!

  600. My favorite song has always been “Little Drummer Boy.” Not sure why. My Mom just gifted me with a cd made from a record she and her high school girls’ choir recorded back in the 50′s – complete with “Little Drummer Boy.” Love it!

  601. All time favorite…Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Judy Garland’s version is not only the original, but the best in my opinion!

  602. Lindsay Dixon says:

My favorite Christmas song is “All I want for Christmas is you” by Mariah Carey…I would like to say it is something more traditional but then I would not be being honest. :)

  603. Jennifer Collins says:

That is a tough one. I LOVE Christmas music!!
I would have to say my favorite is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Bruce Springsteen. I remember when I was little my dad and I used to rock out to it!! I would play my plastic saxophone and he would play air guitar. HAHAHA!

  604. Hilary Von Rohr says:

My grandfather used to sing me Edelweiss on Christmas Eve. He was an immigrant from Switzerland and he had an accent and it took me years to figure out all the words he was singing. He also was a terrible singer, but it will always be one of my favorite Christmas memories and favorite songs.

  605. Courtney P says:

I love the song “I want a Hippopotumus for Christmas” sung by Gayla Peevey. It’s hilarous and never fails to get stuck in my head all day and put me in the Christmas spirit :)

  606. “O Holy Night” by Joshn Groban – always brings me to tears!

  607. These paintings are lovely… I especially love the first one!

I’m going to have to go with the “Nutracker Suite” … basically any song from the Nutcracker brings me back to my youth and watching it on TV before Christmas with my cousin.

  608. My child attends an Atlanta Public school in Buckhead and in keeping with “politically correct” holiday songs– he came home singing…”We wish you a Merry christmas, we wish you a Happy Hannukah, we wish you a Happy Twanza and a Happy New Year.” Can’t say I have ever heard that version.. but “We wish you a Merry Christmas” is a favorite of mine. :)

  609. I love “Breath of Heaven” by Sara Groves.

  610. Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton… got to love Dolly!

  611. Ask anyone in my family about a favorite Christmas song, and it has to be “I’m Dreaming of A White Christmas”. There are many versions of it out there (I like Elvis Presley’s) but the absolute best is sung by my father, who cannot, cannot carry a tune (and doesn’t like to sing normally, but takes great joy in this song). At Christmas time and at random times during the non-Christmas season, he will belt out the opening lines and we all get giggly.

If my twin sister Brooke Maedel responded to this contest, I bet you a dollar to a donut that she submits the same story. :)

  612. My favorite song is the David Bowie/Bing Crosby duet of Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth.

  613. MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY by the BEACH BOYS. You can not help but smile and have fun when you hear it. I would love to be on any beach at Christmas, and this song makes me feel like I am!

  614. Katherine M. says:

This is such a tough call!! I pretty much love any Christmas song, but I guess the one that gets me the most excited/reminds me of being young at Christmas time is Mannheim Steamroller’s “Deck the Halls.” Love it!

  615. Dominick the Donkey. The Italian Christmas Donkey! My daughter loves it, especially when I sing the “Hee Haw, Hee Haw” in a funny voice. It’s a sing along type song! Gets you in the spirit! Merry Christmas!

  616. Since childhood, I have always loved “O Holy Night.” As a little girl looking forward and preparing to sing in the children’s choir on Christmas Eve, I dutifully memorized every word to every song; yet as I reflect on those traditional songs now as an adult, I find that I appreciate and feel the meaning even more. And I’m always amazed that songs I haven’t seen words/music for in years, I still can sing along to – even the obscure 3rd and 4th verses!

  617. My favorite Christmas song at the moment is Mercy Me, Little Drummer Boy- I love this rendition! Almost makes me cry everytime I hear it!

  618. Impossible to pick just one! Two of my favorites are both a capella versions…O Holy Night by Martina McBride and Little Drummer Boy by Faith Hill…just beautiful reminders of the reason for the season.

  619. “Baby it’s Cold Outside” by Leann Womack and Harry Connick, Jr. Meow.

  620. Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby & David Bowie

  621. “Children go Where I send Thee” by Ricky Skaggs

  623. karen carpenter xmas songs

  624. This artwork is beautiful! There is so much emotion in each piece.
My favorite Christmas song is “So this is Christmas/ War is over” by John Lennon. My father loved John Lennon and this was his favorite song to play when we were decorating, cooking, or opening presents. He played this song on the surround sound in our house every Christmas morning. When I play it now it makes me feel like he is still with us during the holidays…and I hope to continue the tradition with my kids one day.

  625. Vince Vance & the Valliants ‘Christmas Time in Texas’….I grew up on their Christmas tape jammin out with my mom & little sis in the car on the way to school everyday from Thanksgiving to Christmas. We still have to listen for a bit every year when we are together. I wonder if it’s on itunes?! ‘Santa better get a pick up truck cause we aint got no snow!’

  626. Nancy in GA says:

“White Christmas” defines the Christmas season, I think. Can’t beat Bing Crosby either!

  627. I love the version Maroon 5 did of John Lennon’s Happy Christmas “war is over”. Chills every time.

  628. Bebo Norman’s “Come and Worship”. There is a video that goes with it also and it’s amazing!

  629. Mariah Carey – “All I Want For Christmas Is You” – I’ll never be able to sing along but every year you can be sure I’ll try!

  630. If you listen to this you are guaranteed to laugh – I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.

  631. Long time silent follower of your blog and also your sister’s. Though I first followed because of your incredible talent with design I most enjoy your entries about family. My favorite Christmas song is “When My Heart Finds Christmas” by Harry Connick Jr.. Kind of sappy but what the heck, tis the season for that kind of thing. To all of you, keep insiring us!
    Merry Christmas to all!

  632. I LOVE Feliz Navidad!

  633. Christmas in Hollis by Run D.M.C. is by far the best Christmas song out there!! ha, ha!! My youngest brother sang this song in his Kindergarten play so my whole family knows all the words to the song since we all used to help him practice for his big performance. He was precious…all snaggle toothed with his red sweat suit that had Rudolph puffy painted on the front doing the robot and singing along to Run D.M.C.!!

  634. I love “I’ll be home for Christmas”…Michael Buble does it best. I also love love love “O Holy Night”. This artwork is awesome…I’m sending good vibes your way that I get picked. I never win anything. :) Make it happen, Erika.

  635. I want a hippopotamus for Christmas… it was my sister and I’s favorite song when we were little. One year my dad gave us a hard plastic hippo for Christmas because we loved the song so much. It makes me smile every time I hear the song and think about how proud he was of his gift to us!

  636. Little Drummer Boy by Frank Sinatra.

  637. My absolute favorite is “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” by Bing Crosby. It makes me reflect on all the service men and women who will not be able to be with their loved ones on Christmas. My family is very fortunate to have my brother Brian coming home safe and sound from Iraq. He gets home on the 23rd! :)

  638. I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas by Shirley Temple!! So Cute!! Always puts a smile on our faces!!

  639. Definitely anything Amy Grant. Probably “Breath of Heaven” is the top of the list- brings me right back to my childhood in the early 90′s…

  640. I love Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time.” It’s all the synthesizer sounds or something…I don’t know but every time it comes on I just can’t help but sing along and dance silly—even publicly!

  641. Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton.

  642. My favorite Christmas song is “Just put a ribbon in your hair” by Alan Jackson.

  643. My favorite Christmas song this year is a Sandra McCracken song called “This is the Hour” performed by musicians at my church. You can listen to it & other songs on their newest CD here: http://sojournmusic.bandcamp.com/album/a-child-is-born

  644. I hear “Here with Us” enough. It just makes what Mary must have experienced so real.

  645. After I submitted my favorite I realized it was submitted by a few others. So, I just purchase a new Christmas CD this year and cannot stop listening to it in my car. The song is called “The Christmas Waltz” by She & Him “A Very She & Him Christmas “. http://www.sheandhim.com/#/splash

Little Toy Trains by the great Glen Campbell!! Not the most popular, but my sister and i played this record over and over when we were kids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAUheEHtOyQ

  649. My favorite Christmas song is “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.” According to my mom, when I was little I accidentally changed the lyrics to “Hippamus-potamus” and she never bothered to correct me. To this day, my version of the word still sounds right to me :)

  650. I am embarrased to admit it, but I recently listened to the actual lyrics of “Little Drummer Boy” and almost cried. It is such a precious song and cannot believe I am just now understanding it’s meaning. It is my new favorite. (My old fave was, of all things, Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You”.) :) BTW, I think Clare Elsaesser is my new obsession. Her artwork is stunning. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  651. My favorite Christmas tune is a fairly new song, “All that I Want” by the Weepies… I just love everything about it, I listen to it on repeat to get me in the holiday spirit.

  652. Not your standard Christmas song but, I love Kenny Rogers’ “My Favorite Things” on his 2000 christmas album. A good song anyone can sing along to, to get in the spirit!

  653. Just about any version of ‘Away in a manger’ the softest loveliest of all Christmas songs.
I remember singing it at the Sunday School program and from then on it melts my heart.

  654. O’Holy Night (especially when Celine sings it!)

  655. “Christmas in Hollis”- Run DMC :)

  662. While the classics are great, the song “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” is just so quirky and fun it always makes me smile.

  663. Mine is “The Little Drummer Boy.” I don’t know what it is about that song but it always gives me the chills – it reminds me of my childhood! Of course, my husband really doesn’t like that song. In fact, I think a lot of people don’t like that song- so I know I’m probably alone on this one!! :)

  664. My favorite is “Let it Snow”. I think that’s the title, “Oh the weather outside is frightful and the air is so delightful. And since we’ve no place to go…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”.

  665. Baby It’s Cold outside by Dean Martin

  666. Christmas in Dixie! Such a classic and my personal all-time fav!

  668. “Away in a Manger”…I picture the nativity and Mary giving birth to Jesus in a setting that seems foreign to most modern-day moms. But that feeling she had holding her baby for the first time is one that so many of us have been blessed to experienced. A true miracle!

  669. I love all of the songs on the Very She & Him Christmas album! I also love Tates Orangey’s work. Ho-ho-ho!

  670. Strange as it may sound, mine is Christmas for Cowboys by John Denver. I was at a Christmas party in high school and a group of the best-looking (college!) guys I’d ever seen were singing this song. One was playing guitar and singing lead (Josh), another was crooning along with his harmonica (Justin), and the one I noticed most of all was playing guitar and singing the upper harmony. I guess the song wasn’t too difficult for him, because that was the night Jeremiah noticed me for the first time. Now, after eight years of marriage and (almost) three babies, I still tear up a little every time I hear it. It also helps that it’s never played on the radio, so there’s no getting weary of it like I do some of the others :)

  671. Beautiful art!! Picking a favorite Christmas song is tough, I love it all, from Frank Sinatra to Vince Guaraldi & Tchaikovsky. But this year, every time I hear “Winter Wonderland” by the Eurythmics, I can’t help but do a little shimmy!

  675. tennessee christmas by amy grant. we still listen to the song (and entire album) every year on mom and dad’s record player, and i know exactly where it skips in the song…none of us mind, we just sing along with a skip. it’s actually strange when i hear it played all the way through :)

My favorite holiday jingle is Harry Belafonte’s ‘Mary’s Boy Child’…this was my father’s favorite and he had to mimic Harry’s voice and pronunciation exactly every time he sang it. 918. Baby its cold outside always reminds me of the movie elf and makes me laugh! Secretly, I love all Christmas songs and start listening and watching movies way too early!

  919. If you really want to get serious about the reason for the season, it is pretty hard to beat the Hallelujah Chorus of Handel’s Messiah. Seeing an entire group of unrelated people standing at the same time to honor the Prince of Peace is an amazingly powerful thing. Hallelujah, indeed!

  920. Baby, It’s Cold Outside is so much fun to sing along…As are so many others, I really love the Christmas season. And I must add, my three yr old son just heard that wacky barking dog version of Jingle Bells and thought it was the best thing ever. We shall disagree!

  921. My favorite Christmas song is “Christmas in Dixie” by the band Alabama. I was born and raised in Alabama (War Eagle!) and have been living and working in the North East for the past 3 years.. so it really tugs the heart strings for me. I absolutely adore all of these paintings especially the blonde female & brunette male couple in the last one, reminds me of me and my love. :) Thanks for the opportunity and Merry Christmas to y’all!

  922. My favorite Christmas song is absolutely “Joy to the World”. It makes me so happy to hear it extrememly loudly on Christmas morning. It’s what Christmas is all about!

  923. One of my many favorite Christmas songs is John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War Is Over)

  927. O, Holy Night. Prefer a male vocalist, but love it either way.

  928. O Holy Night

  929. Ray Conniff’s Twelve Days of Christmas-especially the five golden rings crescendo part. It has been my favorite since I was probably 2. Helps me remember home and tradition since I now live in the southern hemisphere and christmas in the summer time is such a bummer.

  930. I am absolutely loving Carrie Underwood’s version of “Do you hear what I hear” this Christmas season. This was always one of my favorite songs as a child and still to this day it reminds of exactly of what Christmas means to me. And the way Carrie Underwood she sings that song with such conviction seriously makes me teary eyed and giddy every time I hear it.

What also makes me teary eyed and giddy is the last picture of your post. It looks like me and my fiance, Sean, looking out into the ocean. We are getting married January 28, 2012, and I would love a picture like that to help us celebrate!

  931. I can’t help myself…Kenny & Dolly “A Christmas to Remember”!

  932. Love Christmas is Dixie, but Silent Night is my very favorite. Merry Christmas!

  933. My favorite is “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” by Gayla Peevey…and I heard recently that she is from Oklahoma (just like me)!

  934. Abby Mullins says:

“Mele Kalikimaka” by Jimmy Buffett. I WILL spend Christmas in Hawaii one day!

  935. I love “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kit, gets me ready to wrap gifts every year!!!

  936. “Christmas”- Mariah Carey

  937. I have a couple favorites but I guess if I had to choose it would be “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” by Jackson 5. My second pick, if anyone cares to know is, “Santa Baby” sung by Taylor Swift. I just painted my ugly orangey toned 1980′s flagstone fireplace Virtual Taupe by SW and I see a few lovely prints that would look amazing sitting on my mantle! Merry Christmas!!!

  938. Wow this opportunity is much appreciated! My favorite Christmas song is Angels We Have Heard on High.

  939. My favorite is “Baby it’s Cold Outside”. I guess it might have something to do with living in Canada!

  940. Mine is “Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant!

  941. Lindsay Eyrick says:

Mine is “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” by Sixpence None the Richer. I love Christmas music, but this song would not have topped my list until I heard Sixpence’s version…even if you don’t pick it as a top 5, it’s worth adding to your playlist! Merry Christmas!

  942. “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” is my favorite Christmas song, it always has been. It has such a great meaning and the fact that you will most likely hear it lighting up your church on christmas eve makes me want to jump for joy!

  943. The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole

  944. Baby it’s cold outside!

  945. Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” because it reminds me of home, when I’m thousands of miles away.

  946. My favorite is “Silent Night”. I sing it to my 11-month old son now and he “sings” along during bath time and before bed.

  947. Missed the give away… Just want to say how much I love the first piece. Super inspiring!

  948. “baby, its cold outside”. so romantic!

  949. Charlie brown Christmas theme song! Great memories of childhood!

  950. Otis Redding’s rendition of White Christmas. Have been so in love with this song ever since I heard it on Love Actually – my favorite Christmas Movie. Ahhh I could listen to it all day.

  951. Favorite Christmas song is “O Come O Come Emmanuel”! I love minor chord hymns :) I would love to put one of those paintings in my entry. That fifth one is divine.

  952. Elf’s lament, god rest ye merry gentlemen and baby it’s cold outside

  953. My favorite is def ‘I love those J I N G L E Bells!” by Frank; it is by far the best song for the Classic Christmas evening with some adult eggnog;)

  954. oh shoot; just realized this giveaway is O V E R last Thursday!

  955. Very Romantic painting!
