hi

Hello.  Sorry for being such a stranger.  Just been working and mothering.

I saw this today and thought it was lovely:

house from waterworks blog

Found it on the Waterworks Blog, here.

A few months back Coastal Living called and asked if I’d do a little Q&A for their February issue, which is on newsstands now.

Marla took the picture and thankfully I don’t look as cold as I actually was.  Many thanks to the folks at Coastal Living for including me.

A couple of weekends back Darby and her family came for the weekend.  A mutual friend offered us a house in Rosemary Beach for the weekend, which is something you don’t turn down.  It was a wonderful little staycation.  Of course, Sloane didn’t quite know how to handle herself in bunk beds with three older cousins and sleep the first night wasn’t exactly peaceful, but we managed and had a blast.

People often email and ask where they should stay when they visit my little beach community, but it’s not something I can answer easily because it’s rare (aside from McBeach) that I take a staycation.  We loved our weekend here (here’s a link to the house).   The house was just one house off the gulf and right on the green, it really was perfect.

Last week I bought this…

a Pop Phone and I love it.

News from the home front, Sloane is potty trained.  We went pantless for a couple of days… no accidents and done.  Easy, peasy.  My girl is getting so big it sorta hurts my heart.  I want to freeze time.  Last Friday evening she accidentally dropped a box of crayons, when they crashed to the floor she exclaimed, “Oh my little goodness!”

Happy Friday, friends!

i NEED to know more about those shoes you are wearing in the article…

  2. I love sloane’s striped boat neck top! Where did it come from?

  3. You have been missed! We are working on potty training here. So far so good but… She may never ever go without receiving an m&m for her efforts! I better start saving the diaper money for the dentist;) so glad to read that you are well .

  4. So cute! I always love reading your posts…such gorgeous photos :)

  5. I adore that picture of Sloane hugging her cousin (?). Congrats on the magazine article!! Missed your posts!!

  6. I’ve missed your posts! Where did Sloane’s bathing suit come from? Super cute!

  7. I’ve missed you but I honestly don’t know how you find the time to blog anyway. Sloane is adorable! Out the door to buy that Cottage living. How could I resist with you in it? :)
    xo

  8. That would be Coastal Living! :) I am still missing Cottage Living. ha!

  9. Oh, yay! Erika, I was wondering how you were doing! I almost couldn’t get past that photo of the amazing house and attached barn (dying over the barn, omg)!! Definitely going in my inspiration file – I love that little porch/entryway, too – and the vine-covered porch?! Love all of it, oh my.
Congrats on the potty training – how rockstar is Sloane?! What a big girl!!
Glad to hear you love your handset – such a cool idea.
    Have a lovely weekend!

Beautiful photos as always! Have missed your posts! :)

  11. I know! I have a 3 and 5 year old – we’re actually currently teasing them that we’re not going to feed them anymore so they will fit in our pockets. (please don’t call DHS!) They grow up so fast. And if you were to ask me what I want for my kids, I would say, for them to be strong and independent – just not from their momma! Sometimes I just want to hold them so I will remember that exact moment in time. I say all of this but I can’t wait to find out who they will be and what they will do. Ahhh parenthood!

  12. The beach shot is so great!

  13. Oh my little goodness! That is too precious. Congrats on the CL! Way fabulous!

  14. It would give me anxiety to blog like you and know that readers would inevitably ask where I got everything pictured in my post. I promise to never ask about anything ever again!

  15. So glad to get your approval on the pop phones. Our toy store has them in an array of colors, and I was so tempted to buy one, but wasn’t sure if they worked well. I think they make great gifts too! Sloane is too precious. I keep a book of quotes full of stuff my son says. Have a wonderful weekend:) xoxo

  16. Missed reading your blog – we are going to Rosemary Beach this summer – love it there! Glad you had a great time!

  17. her dress is amazing too!!! source??

  18. Oh my little goodness… Sloaners I love you and your little funny self!!!! Hope I get to see you and your big girl panties soon! We will need to celebrate your accomplishments with fro yo!! xoxo MS

  19. Love the arm party you’re rockin’ in the Coastal Living pic! I, too, am dying over the Pop phone, but so far, only in my dreams. :)

  20. I totally just checked your blog because I saw Darby just posted and I thought, “hmmm I bet her twin blogged” sure enough ;) love both of you guys! Xoxo

  21. Loved the Coastal Living article!! You look stunning! Beautiful pics of the kids in Rosemary! A lot of my friends have the pop phone and it’s so hilarious-we love it when we drive by one another in town and see it in use in the car-so funny!! Yay for Sloane being potty trained!! :)

  22. Your little one is adorable! They grow up way too quickly don’t they?! x

  23. I bought a pop phone in orange. Love it! I did a blog on it. Check it out.

  24. Oh my goodness. Such sweetness with that Sloaney girl! Our Little One is a couple of months behind her and fills this grandmother with wonder at something new she says or discovers every day! I cannot believe that someone is marketing a “phone handle” and people are buying it. I lived with my phone cradled against my neck talking to my friends while I folded laundry, cooked dinner, and unloaded the dishwasher along with just about every task you can think of (some feasible and some not). Then I worked for years at a desk with one tucked up under my neck. I truly had a permanent “crick” in my neck and my head still likes to lean to one side. I am NOT going back. Ya’ll are young enough that you don’t remember the agony of being tethered to a telephone. I know. I know. I am totally revealing my age and inclination not to adopt progressive change, but you can have your pop phone. I love my speaker on my phone and am NOT going back to that phone handle, no matter how cute it looks in the pics. Do you think I doth protest too much?!!

  25. SO fun! Rosemary is a sweet little town. Love the photo with Rover, Sloane and the raybans. Too much.

  26. Yall’s staycation looks perfect. Makes me want to runaway there now!

Glad Sloane is potty-trained. I believe my little one was trained about the same age and went pantless for a few days herself! That last pic is too funny and priceless!

  27. Loved your quote about salty air and sand beneath your feet…so so true!!!

  28. I would like to know who cuts Sloane’s hair so that when I am finally “home” on the beautiful emerald coast in 10 glorious days (it’s been since July, can you tell I’m excited?) I can go and say please cut my hair like Sloane’s…

  29. Love!

  30. Hello! I love the fabric on your club chair! Can you please tell me where I can find it? Thanks!

  31. Hannah Fields says:

I could not agree more about pantless potty training. Way to go sloane!

  32. Always happy to see a new post of yours! That house is amazing – so charming! I have one of those Pop Phones too and it makes talking on a cell phone so much more pleasant – I love it!

  33. That top home is beautiful! And so are all your photographs, wow!!!

  34. Glad you’re back…. and we can see what’s been going on. Lauren’s comment above made me laugh out loud because it’s so true. You can’t do a simple blog post without having 95% questions in the comments about fabric, clothes, etc!!! Bless you.

  35. Congratulations on potty training! Your weekend pictures are beautiful and congrats again on Coastal Living!

  36. oh my little goodness…brought a smile to my face and to my day!

  37. What a doll baby that little Sloane is! Good to see ya around and I am sooo jealous! I LOVE Rosemary Beach!!

  38. Paige Rodriguez says:

Tell us about your beautiful green shirt!! And awesome shoes!! Love your blog so so much.

  39. Congrats on your Coastal Living Q&A interview! You should be really proud of yourself and all that you’ve accomplished. BTW, the picture of the Florida sky took my breath away! I miss Florida sunsets so thanks for sharing:)

  40. i am so happy to have found your blog! I happened upon it through a photo of a Nantucket home on Pinterest. I clicked through and read your blog…you were pregnant. Then I flashed forward to the present on your blog.

  41. We have never stayed at Rosemary Beach, but we have driven by and drooled several times. Lovely!

  42. Love your picture in Coastal Living! Is that the J Crew Timex watch? If so, what kind of watch strap are you using? I love my watch but the straps are HUGE and look a bit ridiculous on my wrist!

  43. I, too, pitifully wait each day to see if you’ve posted becuz you have such an incredible eye and I lurrve your blog…..creep much? I am also in NEED of that green top!! Please clue us in!!!

  44. Well, for starters, that’s my couch! Gah! Secondly, Sloane is the cutest name ever and if I were fabulous and chic and could look so amazing in a magazine spread, I would consider naming my first born Sloane as well. But since I’m me, she’ll probably have to be a Jane or Barb.

The only thing better than all of the stuff I already EEEEK’ed about is the fact that she is playing with a naked Cabbage Patch doll. I am officially a fan of it all.

  45. Hi! Congrats on your article:) Was wondering where your green top and cute shoes are from???? thanks!

  46. Love the photo of you and the clogs are to die for. Too perfect. Congtrats on your feature in Coastal Living.

  47. Erika, would you mind linking back to where you found those clogs? Need them for fall! Thank you!!

  48. She looks like a doll! Andddd I looove the fabric on your couch mixed with the pattern and color on the pillow so fun and perfect!
