morning

SCP 3

SCP 2

Good morning, friends.  I don’t have a post together, but I love these photos so figured I would share them.  One morning I found these two laying on the daybed talking about that fox in Sloane’s hand.  The lighting was so nice I ran back downstairs for my camera.  Mornings are sweet around here.  I remember distinctly the day Sloane came out of her bedroom on her own for the first time.  She stood at the top of the stairs and shouted, “I waked up, Momma!”  That tiny little voice and big messy fresh-from-the-bed hair, I could gobble her up.

This is the daybed that I recently posted about finally ordering pillows for.  My collection of Paint By Numbers has been in the works for years, slowly collecting them and storing them in a drawer until I had enough to make an impact.  I have two more to add to the collection that aren’t hung yet.  I had the daybed made years ago by a local carpenter.  It was inspired by one that Habersham used to make.  It holds a twin mattress and is a great spot for my nieces and nephews to sleep when they visit!

I’ll be back soon with our summer wish lists… stay tuned!

  1. Love that little spot and the precious moment between daddy and daughter

  2. precious.

  3. The daybed is beautiful. As are everything else in the space. The love between your husband and Sloane is priceless. You are one lucky family!

  4. Beautiful pic! So, did you paint each of the paint by numbers? Or, when you say collect as in find ones others did? Interesting collection that I LOVE!

super cuteness! I remember when my daughter got up on her own for the first time… it wasn’t as cute as this story! I awoke to her sitting on my head, as you can imagine.. first thing in the morning you certainly don’t want a toddler sitting on your head.

  6. what a wonderfully sweet post erica :)

such a great space! of course :)

  7. Erika, thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven! Where is the bedspread from? It is precious and looks like it would last forever! XO Georgine

  8. So sweet! and the space makes me gasp every time i see it! love the gold frames. are they painted?

  9. Great pictures! I love that you do Paint By Numbers :) Some friends and I get together every now and then to work on some – “PBN Club” haha!

  10. Awww, don’t you just love moments like this? When Ella’s hair would get messy I would always say, “Ella, you’ve got a birds nest up here.” One day when her hair was all messy she asked me, “Mommy, did the birds do that?” Too funny!

  11. Oh my… this is such a sweet post. I love the picture of a daddy with his happy little girl. And are those pictures seriously paint by numbers? i could just die over them! Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. What a wonderful daybed. I love it. And such sweet pictures. Those are keepers for sure. :)

  13. Erika, we have many of the same doggie PBNs, I have 20 of them hanging in my laundry room in a tight “gallery wall” formation. I remember when Darby first showed your space & I literally called my husband over to look at the computer so he would realize that I was not the only human being on earth who appreciated these fabulous gems! I have a cocker spaniel so I especially hunt for those :)

  14. it’s a great space! great eye, Erika!

  15. YAY!!! I emailed you a while back about the bed– I just love it so much. My sister and I are going to make one! :) Those pictures are just precious– Sloane is absolutely darling! I could gobble her up myself! :) — and all these posts this week, it’s better than Christmas! I just love your blog.

  16. So cute!! Love these. Will you ask your husband if he got his top from Coldwater Creek? ;)RH

  17. Erika I am obsessed! Your family is too sweet and Sloan is just absolutely adorable. I have been following your blog for years and as sad as I am to not see your posts very often, it makes the posts you do find time for that much more special and as much as I love seeing your design work I love seeing your family just as much! I’m sure life feels insane for you right now with how busy work is, but your blog is clearly showing what a priority your family is.

  18. I always love your pictures…you capture the perfect moments! Such a cute room too.

    Katie :)

    Adooooorbs!!

  20. Soo sweet!

  21. You always post the most precious pictures! Love the daybed…we’re having something similar made for our screened-in porch. :)

  22. Paint by numbers collection?!?! You’re genius as always. Please tell me you have one that someone you know painted. Love that daddy daughter time.

  23. Hi Erika,
    What a sweet, sweet moment to capture! Also, you may have given this information somewhere else, but I have been searching and can’t find it…what is the paint color on these walls? In your den? I am helping a friend choose paint colors for her new house and I think this one is perfect :}
Thanks so much! Love your style and blog!

  24. Erica, thank you for sharing these sweet photos!!

Such sweet pictures. I enjoy watching my husband and son have moments like these. May I ask what brand the fox that Sloane is holding? I am always in search of plush that isn’t so commercial looking. Enjoy many more moments!

  26. love.

  27. Sweet, sweet photos. Love that daybed! So smart to hold a twin mattress for company…I may be copying you and enlisting my handy husband to do the job. :)

  28. So sweet!!! What lovely way to start the day!! We stayed at Santa Rosa Beach last week and I couldn’t help but think of you and your sweet family. Hope you’re having a wonderful summer despite all the tourists! :)

  29. oh, so sweet! I LOVE the daybed…and love Sloane’s cute little face! can’t wait to see the summer wish lists!! :)

  30. sweetest pics. where is the coverlet from? the chenille dots it looks like? it’s EXACTLY what i’ve been searching & searching for my bed.

  31. I am so sorry to hear about the devastating shootings at Auburn University over the weekend. I hope you are not connected to anyone lost in such tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Aurbun U community.

  32. Hi there, this is my first time here from Decor and the Dog’s blogroll. I am blown away by the paint by numbers- LOVE! I never saw something like that done so chic! Well done :)

  33. Hi Erika – my search for an outdoor shower faucet brought me to your blog and although I can’t find a picture of your outdoor shower on it, I’ve been totally engrossed in your fabulous blog! Love your decorating advice and insight into your design world and home life! Any chance you’d mind sharing the make of the faucet you used in your outdoor shower? We are looking for a faucet with hot/cold capabilities as well as a low spickett to hook up a hose to ( in addition to the shower head). It looked like your shower faucet might fit the bill? Thanks for any information you can provide!

  34. Hey! I haven’t stopped by in a while…I’m way behind on blog reading. But, I just had to comment because this little story is just too cute. I know I say it all the time, but she reminds me so much of Meme. Meme has the sweetest little voice, too. Just yesterday I was telling JT that I wanted to just record all the little things she says so I can listen to them one day. :) I remember one morning when Meme was just learning she could get out of her big girl bed by herself, she walked into the den and didn’t see me. She called out to me and said, “Mommy?! I sleep good!” It was so sweet and precious. I heard it from the other room and knew why she said it — because every morning I say to my children, “Good morning! Did you sleep good?” She was wondering where I was and decided she’d just go ahead and tell me. ;)

  35. My friend and I stopped by the RB Coastal Living house today–gorgeous! It is definitely not helping me get this beachy paradise out of my system before I head back home. :) You did a beautiful job!

  36. Amy Bryan says:

Erika I enjoy reading your blog so much! You are so talented, your work is amazing! I have a quick question maybe you can answer without seeing the space. I have 10 ft ceilings with white cabinets and white subway tile, would you take the cabinets all the way up to ceiling or do eight foot cabinets? Thanks!

  37. Gosh, what an absolutely beautiful picture…the color on the walls, the pictures, the daybed and of course the people! Love it. First time here, will be back.

  38. Love the daybed! Speaking of daybeds, I’m already having to create a “big girl” room for my 21-month old. She started crawling out of the crib. Where does time go! Just thinking about a daybed for her room! Any ideas or a sneak peek at maybe what you did?

  39. That is so adorable. :) And the daybed is gorgeous! It’s the perfect little nook for cute family activities like this or for curling up and reading a book. Lovely.

  40. We miss you so much! I keep checking in for that summer wish list, although I know you have way bigger fish to fry. Congrats on the Coastal Living house!! I can’t wait for you to share photos from that as well. Hope you are having a great summer

  41. The daybed is beautiful but what stood out for me are the dog portraits above. It’s as if this photo was taken in a studio.

  43. Ah , to live off a stones throw away from the Donut Hole. Just returned from a short vay-cay. So close to outlet malls, no wonder you are so stylish. Keep us up to date with a fashion tip or two. Had to visit that Garden of Eden, practically in your back yard — missed their house tour but caught the coastal living house tour — good thing my video cam had a brand new card in it . The Sugar Shack, so nice to allow the public use of the facilities. Popped in to Marla’s store and was reminded by the clerk of the house tour so I made a honey bee line . If you are in the town center at 11:58 am beware. Do not stand outside the Sugar Shack at that hour. Also, We had visited the Eden site many years ago before the new road , it was during the spring, so it was a late afternoon August last week. Have you been to Camp Helen? had no idea such a gem exists– A bit of sweet home Alabama. What a history ,the link of Seaside and Alabama is fascinating.

  44. Missing your blog posts! Hope all is okay with y’all. I just love your style!

  45. Those photos are just darling! I think candid shots like those are the best

  46. I worry that you will not see this comment until after the auction ends, but if you’re looking for a few more paint by numbers to add to your collection, I saw these at an estate sale: http://bid.ebth.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?ebth88/category/ARTWORK (items 475, 476, 482) and thought of this blog entry!

  47. Hi,
I just discovered your blog and I’m loving it! Where did you get the chenille bedspread? I want one with dots ( I’m sure there is a name for it besides “dots”) but all the ones I find on ebay or etsy have small dots and are thin. The one you have is perfect! Any tips?

  48. Kathy Parker says:

May I ask where you got that gorgeous daybed and cover for it? I also saw it in Southern Living Mag and am just in love with it!
