lately

Clearly I’m having a hard time blogging.  Lots going on around here.  I decided to renovate and add on to our house while very pregnant, which I would not advise anyone else try.  We were living in the madness, but decided to move out last weekend, which we should have done a long time ago.  We’re living in a 500 square foot carriage house and I’m still very pregnant (due any day now) and it’s going to be tight quarters when baby arrives, feel free to add us to your prayer lists. ;)

We recently went to California for a dear friend’s wedding.  Here are some photos  of our adventures on the West Coast.

Some folks on Instragram asked about our dresses.  Sloane’s flower girl dress came from Olive & Fern and mine (not maternity) came from a local friend’s store, Ophelia.  You can find it here.   If you are coming to my beach town this summer add Ophelia to your list of places to shop, there are two locations, one in Seacrest and one in Grayton!

And I’d hate to leave you without a Smokey update.  She is alive and well.  She?  That’s right, someone informed me that “he” is actually a “she”.

  1. Thanks for posting the link to the dress! Any chance you could link up the wedges in the 2nd photo (with the black dress)? So cute!

  2. You look radiant and Sloane is growing up to be such a doll.

  3. Hi Erika!

It was such a nice surprise to see a blogpost from you! Good Luck with everything coming up….all the home renovations, and most importantly, the delivery of your new baby girl! Best wishes for a smooth and easy delivery and to a very healthy baby! I’ll look forward to seeing the good news soon! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

    Cheers from Annapolis,

    Barb

PS – That Smokey is something…..so precious! Really, a children’s book would be perfect, featuring that plump white bunny! :)

  4. I was excited to see on IG that you had a new post. As always, your pictures are adorable and Sloan is precious. It is unfair how cute you are pregnant. I was as big as a buick and was sweaty all. the. time. Good luck with the delivery!

Totally going to copy you on that dress if it hasn’t sold out already.

  5. Christine says:

So happy to see a blog post. I imagine life is full and busy, but blogland loves to see your updates! Please have someone update the blogging world or Instagram when your new bundle arrives! Prayers to your sweet family for a healthy baby and delivery. And prayers for anyone brave enough to live in 500sq feet with a toddler and newborn. ;)

  6. Beautiful pictures as always!! Sending prayers for a safe and healthy delivery as well as cramped living spaces :). Xoxo

  7. LDC is surrounded by the ladies…even the rabbit is a girl! Best of luck in these final days. I can’t wait for the update and pics. Love y’all!

  8. *sigh* You are glowing… and not just because you’re pregnant…. what skincare products do you use?

  9. HI Erika,
Can you tell me where in California the wedding took place? it’s gorgeous.

  10. Love the Ophelia dress. I’m 5 months pregnant and have a wedding to attend in June. I just may check that one out! Love the pics….gorgeous.

  11. So happy you’re blogging again! I know how busy you must be. Whew! Work, house construction, moving, toddler, baby on the way! Praying for you and your family through this hectic, exciting time.

  12. charlotte says:

So happy to see you are back! Beautiful post! Praying for smooth delivery and I am sure she will be just as beautiful as her Mom and Sis (can’t leave out MommaSissy).

  13. Welcome back! You sure have a lot going on – sending good thoughts. Loved the pics.

  14. So very fun to see an update from you! Can’t wait to see pics of the new wee one (and that renovation :) soon! xoxo

  15. I look forward to your posts-your family is so sweet! I too, took on renovation while pregnant. I was our first pregnancy, and it was a gutted to the studs kitchen and dining room. I underestimated how big my belly would get and gave up on washing dishes in a rubbermaid tub in the bathtub. I could no longer reach over! We grilled and used paper plates. I feel for you, and pray your reno is complete soon!

  16. I must have missed a post or two because I didn’t even know you were pregnant! Congratulations!!! You look stunning and I’m glad to hear you are alive and well! Hahah…I was missing all your beautiful posts!

  17. As we viewed your new post the questions started a flowin’! Kendall says, “How old is she? When can I go see her? Where does she live? Does she live close to us? When can we see Smokey?” Hilarious … beautiful family … praying for your sanity :P

  18. elizabeth says:

Sloane is your Mini-Me! So cute and congratulations on your growing family, my friend!

  19. Jessica says:

Such a beautiful family! 500 sq ft?! I will definitely add you to my prayers. ;) We’re talking about renting something tiny while we build… I’m sure it’s worth it in the end, but that does sound stressful! Praying for an easy delivery and transition to family of 4! Can’t wait to see pictures of the new little one :)

  20. You have got to be, without a doubt, the most BEAUTIFUL pregnant gal EVER. And, oh my word, SLOANE in that floral crown… has there ever been a more precious flower girl in history? Cannot wait to see your newest little lady. Praying for you all as you await her arrival.

  21. It’s so good to hear an update! You look stunning- so happy for you and your family :) Your daughter is so beautiful.
Best of luck with the construction- hope all goes well! And congratulations on the future new family member:) :)
And I’m so glad to see the photos from the Coastal Living house are up! I was so impressed when I visited and couldn’t wait to see photos!

  22. I was pregnant while we built our first AND then our second house. We brought Virginia home from hospital to a cramped rental where she slept in a basket on a piece of plywood over the bathtub for her first four months. When we decided to build the third house, everyone assumed I was pregnant again….nope.
Enjoy these crazy days…you’ll have fun telling your girls about them later.
Sheryl (happy mom of two daughters who are best friends)

  23. Sloane is just growing up to be a stunner! No surprise there, but oh my goodness. She is beautiful. I’ve missed both you and Darby so much … I wish you had time to post more often, but I totally understand. Thank you for posting pictures of such a gorgeous wedding, and I’m glad you guys had a great time. Can’t wait to see pictures of the changes to your home!

  24. E, are you just the cutest pregger gal ever or what? i can’t wait to hear about baby girl #2, i just know she’s going to be as wonderful as your first born, you & Chance must be thrilled. thinking (and praying) for ya’ll during this ‘tight’ living- it will make for a great story to tell when your girls are grown. hugs to you & your family. xoxo, B

  25. So glad to hear from you around the blog world. And I LOVE that dress, great purchase! Hope you are doing well in these last few days before child #2. I know we’d all love to see the nursery reveal, once you “have time”!

  26. Good luck with everything!!!

  27. Thanks for sourcing your dress. I just might have to get one! And would love some of your staff post some design work, too. The last work we’ve seen from you was the Coastal Living house.

  28. Aron J. says:

I am just a follower and a fan, and loved these pictures, thanks for sharing! I was hoping you could tell me where you got the navy blue dress, pretty please? Good luck with all of the exciting things going on in your life, how wonderful!

  29. Colleen Sullivan says:

So loved this post… my kids are following Smokey. They can’t believe you are lucky enough to have such a wonderful friend outside your now being renovated back door. We just completed a home renovation that took over a year ( you inspired most of the paint colors in each room, in addition to furniture chosen, etc etc so for this I am very grateful.). I have had many stressful experiences in my life that I handled so much better than I did this renovation… so my advice is to focus on you… and your new little one.. and your beautiful older one… and ask for help mama.
To an easy delivery…. know that good thougts are being sent your way from this reader in Connecticut!!

  30. So glad to see a post from you! You look radiant, and are a walking advertisement for that Zinke dress! Best to you as you wait for that baby…

Oh My God, my sister was married in the same place in August!!! So funny to see the same house with a different couple. It’s a gorgeous home and getting married on the helicopter pad was fun. I was my sister’s matron of honor and she kept getting bees caught in her veil. Thank goodness she didn’t notice while the ceremony was going on.

  44. Erika,

by now you are busy, busy with a 2 to 2-1/2 month old I am estimating. I haven’t visited for a while so can’t believe the pics of your Sloane. She is gorgeous, your family is gorgeous! I am so struck by all your photography [pics of Smokey are awesome - you must write that children's book!].

Can I ask what you use for a camera? I’m sure you’ve taken photography classes too, that makes a difference, but the resolution and clarity of your images really drives the point home to me that I must get a new camera!

    Thank you!

  45. Kathleen says:

what a sweet teachable moment. the gnarly feeling video. I could not believe my ears. That child’s reaction to one of Gods creatures now was it a lion fish one of those invasive fish species? if so I can understand his willingness to destroy the beast.

  58. I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both
equally educstive and engaging, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the
nail on the head. The issue is something that too few folks
are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I came across this in my
    search for something regarding this.

this website. I am hoping to see the same high-grade blog posts by you in the future as well.

  60. You certainly are lucky with such a lovely looking family. I’ve 5 daughters of my own…two of them which spend many hours pretending to do interior design LOL. My one daughter just blows my mind with her imagination. Some of the picture remind me of up state NY when I was a kid many moons ago..LOL

Anyway, thank you for such a wonderfully well-done blog. I know it takes a lot of dedication, especially with an interior design company and kids. Been there, done that and doing that all the time. Luckily I have a wonderful wife who is always making my free moments with the kids more productive.

Hope you have a lovely holiday and New Year. Cheers
