Urban Grace Interiors {the blog} bio picture

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Erika and this is my blog.  You might have come here from my old blog- if so please update your feed or bookmark the new site... I promise it'll be much better than the old blog.  If you are new around here welcome!  I'm so glad you are here.  A little background on me: I am a new mom to a precious little girl, a designer, a wife, and the mother of two rescued dogs (Penelope & Paisley).  I am passionate about design, and I also enjoy gardening, good pens, art, photography, antiques, traveling, and rescued animals.

If you are curious about my design business, Urban Grace Interiors, you can click that link above titled "Portfolio" that will take you to official website.  This blog is just my daily ramblings... some of which are design related, and some of which are not.  I hope you like what you find here... I aim to inspire.

mothy

I am most certainly one of those people who emailed Anna Spiro to inquire about her moth painting (by artist Allyson Reynolds).  It is one of my all time favorites.  That was a couple of years ago and I still love it.  She posted details on her moth painting today… and it was definitely one of the highlights of my day.  The bummer is… no moth paintings currently available, which makes me want one all the more.

Images above from Absolutely Beautiful Things.  Thanks for the info Anna!

March 11, 2010 - 6:15 pm Claire - Wow! I didn't know about the moth paintings and I didn't know about Anna Spiro, but thanks to you, I just looked over her portfolio. What a gorgeous combination of new and old! So chic. Love the painting with the peonies and Ming Vases. Thanks for the introduction, Erika!

March 11, 2010 - 6:16 pm littleshop - I was thinking about these, too, and when I saw them on her blog today I wondered "could I afford one of those...?" Nice to know there are none out there or else I'd be tempted. The one in the shot behind the table is my fave.

March 11, 2010 - 7:56 pm Patchi (Trendy Peas) - Love the painting. Great colors. And thanks for the link to "absolutely beautiful things". I enjoyed visiting the site.

March 11, 2010 - 8:30 pm Laurie - absence does make the heart grow fonder. Dream on.

March 11, 2010 - 8:32 pm Anna Spiro - Hi Erika,So glad you like the moths too. If you really want one just register with Doggett Street Gallery and I'm sure they will keep you updated on Allyson Reynolds and her moths!xx Anna

March 12, 2010 - 12:01 am Barb Harper - Oh my. Be still my heart. I hate real moths but I share your love for these paintings! What a great use of color and a light, wispy stroke. Almost makes me want to try to duplicate it. Great tip! You're amazing, by the way. I REALLY enjoy your blog.

March 12, 2010 - 1:12 am meaghan - sooo...the colors are BRILLIANT, but i have to admit, the idea of moths creeps me out a little ; ) xoxo

March 12, 2010 - 7:37 am linda@ Lime in the Coconut - Those are beautiful...and all look so different in each space!

March 12, 2010 - 10:07 am Kerry - I, too, have admired Anna's painting and, after reading her post a couple days ago, decided I'd probably never have one ;-( Several months ago, I saw a painting of butterlies that I knew I had to have. I went searching, only to find that it was a Hunt Slonem! No way I'd ever have one. But then I found a limited edition print, and it was so beautiful, and still, I couldn't justify the $2500. I'm afraid I may regret it one day. Utterly beautiful -- the moths and the butterflies!

March 12, 2010 - 11:04 am Wendy Roberts - my cousin has two of these in their NY apartment. They're even more stunning in person, if you can believe it!

March 12, 2010 - 1:12 pm Ivy Lane - Loving these! Never knew of them and I do follow Anna's blog...did not see the post.... thanks for the intro Erika! Going over to Anna's blog now... I only saw "blog browsing" nothing on moth paintings..mmmm..will check again! :)

March 12, 2010 - 2:36 pm ZoeB - How wierd is this ? I read your blog this morning and then whilst looking for a hotel in london, came across one called 'number sixteen' which showed a room with the moth painting on the wall. Is this fate ? Should I book it on the basis of a coincidence? ZoeB

March 15, 2010 - 4:23 pm cristin @ simplified bee - Gorgeous works of art! Who new those little pests could be so beautiful.xo, cristin
