“B.S.O.D.”

This has been an ugly week folks.

I double checked the mirror yesterday and again this morning, to ensure I did not have "Kick Me" tattooed across my forehead.

To further complicate a short list misfortunes and frustrations, my computer crashed yesterday.

"You did not tell me it was B.S.O.D!"- tech guy says upon emergency arrival.

"What?" as my heart sunk thru my toenails.

"Blue Screen of Death"

Blue screen of death

It's not a virus. You can read here if you want details.  It's a result of running too many major programs at one time and having huge amounts of files on my computer.  I saved and saved my money for months for that computer, it's a really good one (well the best that I could afford), but I guess I do too much on it.  I get so many emails that Outlook is on the verge of collapsing (yes, I archive and save all projects t individual folders), but once it's maxed out… it doesn't like to operate.  I work in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator… at the same time.  Is this too much to ask?  I have to work.

Oh, and the "safety net" external hard drive… won't read on my other computers.  Yes, I backed up to it, until it mysteriously came unplugged (it was probably me plugging something else in)… which would still not explain why it won't even open on my other machines.

Marla is such a wonderful friend (the kind of friend I have needed for quite some time) she has come to the rescue for me numerous times this week, so it's no surprise she came racing over with a bigger, badder external hard drive.  Then said I could share her office and her computer programs.  Thank you Marla.

So this morning here I sit at the house, about to head to the office, praying the computer is not toast. Something had to run overnight… but the doctor said the outlook was not good.  He said "you should probably start computer shopping."  Do I wipe the existing computer clean, reinstall what I can, then get a Mac to run my graphics?  Can I run AutoCAD on a Mac?  Would it be lame to have a Mac and a PC on the same desk… ?

He offered to take her (my computer) while I am gone next week… but I couldn't let her go.

If you are the praying type, you can pray for me.

The biggest blessing- I'm leaving for a week* (and I might not ever come back).  Boston & Brimfield here I come.

On the bright side: today is supposed to be a really fun and exciting day.  I can't divulge details… but if I didn't have today to look forward I might get in my car and drive someplace where no one can find me… like maybe South Dakota.**  I probably would need to fix my flat tire first.  Yes, the one that I just keep putting air in and hoping it'll patch itself.

Peace out yall.  I'll try and leave you with something pretty before I take off for a week!

*- Annmarie, do not be afraid of me… I can't wait for Beantown!

**- I say that with experience, my parents lived in South Dakota a short stint.

the good. the bad. and the really ugly.

As I was oohing and ahhing over these an email popped in from my sister

Sister,
Get your tongue ready and don't drool on your computer screen! I thought since all your other blogstalkers shared their bathroom pictures with you that I better do the same! Any advice on any of them!?

Seriously I can't explain why I haven't shown these to you all sooner.  Well, probably because I like to keep it nice and tasteful around here.

If and when you are feeling down and out about your bathrooms and any possible lack of good taste that you might be living with… just know that my sister feels your pain.

She and her husband bought a house recently and these are her bathrooms:

There are not words clever enough for the atrocity.

She has asked that I take donations on her behalf to help her update her bathrooms, we only need to raise about $75k… shouldn't be too hard. She has only stripped the wallpaper in one bathroom… the renovation process may be a long one for that mother of three.

She will get there.  Her kitchen is already revamped and fantastic.
