We went rug shopping.

It takes a while to really “finish” a project.  And even when you finish, you still come back and tweak and update.

Earlier this week we went out on a quick rug shopping adventure for a project that was completed almost two years ago, but still needed a few things in its foyer.

We took both of these beauties to try out.  The antique bottles were for the top of the armoire, but we were just eyeballing at this point…

We decided on the celadon and gold rug.  And those pillows are off my sofa, they worked so well that I’ve let the client borrow them until we find a suitable replacement.  She’s threatening to steal them from me… I don’t blame her, they look pretty darn good in there.

The rug came from a local favorite – Oasis Rugs.  Their website is down, but if you see something you can’t live without I’m sure Charlann would be glad to help you out!  Her email is: charlann(at)oasisrugs(dot)com

Happy Fourth of July!!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

this is how I feel today…

note: it is okay

Rather feel like this than to be bored to tears, right?

If I could be anywhere right this minute, I’d be on that porch swing sippin’ coffee with my mom. We would probably would be discussing how crazy my dad is… (sorry dad) and deciding what antique shops we are going to hit once we get out of our jammies.

Once we mosey our way into town, we’d probably hit this place (below) first.  It’s a great antique shop (my favorite by far).  The morning that Chance & I got married my girlfriends and I hit up this place together.  I was elated, what more could a girl want than to be in an antique shop with all her best friends.

I did let them know that I got first pick of everything since it was my wedding day.

While it felt sort of paparazzi like to have someone follow you with a camera while you shop, I am so glad the memories were captured.  Thanks Jason.

This (above) picture cracks me up.  I dont know what someone just said, but it look as if my friend and I are shocked, and maybe a little disgusted? We both have the same expression, it cracks me up.  And I don’t know what was in Cameron’s left hand,  but I hope she bought it…

Yesterday afternoon I had to squeeze a little (I only set aside an hour) art shopping into my insane schedule.  A collection of antique bug prints for a client needed just a few more friends. And LOW & BEHOLD… my quick run into a local antique mall turned into a minor buying trip for yours truly!

This is what I bought:

Rongriswold

[Ron Griswold 31x41 oil on canvas, signed by artist "Man in Field with Rain Storm"]

Need I even tell you that I am in love? I passed him in the antique mall (he sooo caught my eye), continued to shop but I couldn’t get him out of my head. You do this?  I go to the next aisle and the anxiety starts to set in ‘what if someone gets to him before I get back to him?’. I race thru the rest of the mall… when I come across these two beauties (marked down tickets)… I get a little distracted.

Westerberg1

Westerberg2

[oil on canvas by K. Westerberg, dated 1938, tag is in German (?) can't read it- if anyone knows German please comment - I'll scan the tag and email it to you for translation]

Long story short, I bought all three and am thrilled with these little splurges for me!  I was giddy driving home with my carload.  Man in Field was in backseat (in front of copper lantern that was still buckled in), I must have looked in rear-view mirror 100 times in the short drive.

I also got the bugs I had gone in for and a few other antique prints I can’t wait to have framed for other projects:

I know art is subjective… but I hope you like my finds as much as I do!?
