2012 Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House – Foyer, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Study

The oval shaped entry has a tall cove ceiling, all covered in Venetian Plaster.  This fixture by Circa Lighting just felt right for the way the foyer is positioned in the house, the floor to ceiling window on the backside of the foyer gives guests a view into the courtyard and pool area.  We chose a skirted hexagon shaped table to soften the space.  The fabric on the skirt is one of my favorites, a Nomi linen with a gold oblong dot, with two linen accent bands of Samuel & Sons flat tape trim at the bottom, which matched the front door color.  This is a great view of the Peacock Paver floors, which are in their Champagne color.

Kitchen Living Dining

As you come off the foyer to the right you step into the common area that is the kitchen, living, and dining area.

The garden stools are the Duquette by Madegoods.  All upholstery again, by Lee Industries.  Lighting by Circa.  The painting over the fireplace is by Courtney Garrett.

The dining room table was made specifically for the space by Old Wood Company.  The wall behind the settee is upholstered in Sunbrella fabric and the plates are an NYC find.

Oops, should have straightened that poor pillow on the far right.  Gotta keep it real.  The study walls are clad in pecky  cypress in a very custom stain.  Poor Allison stood in line at the paint store for hours mixing and mixing until it was just right.  I think she nailed it.  The painting above the sectional (by Lee Industries) is by Clare Elsaesser, commissioned her to do one of her small paintings very large for this back wall.  I love this room, but Coastal Living did not run it in the story.  It is in the online gallery, but I was bummed it didn’t make the cut.  I guess it’s a bit too dark for their normal readership’s liking.  I think it’s a cozy little retreat and was definitely one of my favorite rooms in the house.  After I took this picture we went back and added reading sconces over each end of the sectional.  The ottoman is one that Allison and I found on our trip to Miami.

The pillows are combination of Jane Shelton and Peter Fasano, two of my most favorite fabric lines.

I’m not sure if these are “pinnable” from this page, but if anyone wants to pin them on Pinterest I’ll be adding them to a “Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House” board as I update these posts.

  1. WOW WOW WOW! Did (or was) the family that bought the house able to buy any of the furnishings? I would have wanted it as is (who wouldn’t!) Great job!

  2. I just wish that the loveliness of the plaster walls could have been captured through the camera lense. They added such a calming depth & feeling to the space, far beyond ‘white walls’ – just gorgeous. As for the study, it was one of my favorites, too. I just wanted to curl right up with a blanket & my ipad…and call it ‘home’. Were you holding your breath when that couch was installed? 😉

  3. Absolutely perfection. Congratulations!!

  4. Madeline Pittenger says

    So beautiful….yall are amazing!

  5. Wow, the house is so amazing! It’s really fun to see all the photos. I am just thrilled to have my painting in the perfect beach house den. Thanks Erika and ladies!!

  6. Love it all! That study is fab!

  7. I was disappointed that the study was not in the magazine also….it was one of my very favorite spaces….and that painting…to die for. It was the perfect wow for that room.

  8. Wish I could have seen the house in person. You do such beautiful work. A pillow that’s a little askew doesnt bother me, but sloppy slip-covers do! I know they’re supposed to look all slouchy and natural but it just looks like poor workmanship to me, especially the bar stools. Sorry…the Home Ec. teacher in me!

  9. Absolutely stunning job!! Seeing as I live in Massachusetts and was not able to attend the showhouse in person, I can’t even tell you how much I’ve enjoyed reading these posts. Such inspiration, thank you!

  10. I agree with you, the room with the green Jane Shelton pillows is one of my favorites! So cozy and I love the colors! Gorgeous all over the house!

  11. Can I just tell you how amazing that house is? I can’t begin to imagine how much work all of you put into it–but it was definitely worth the effort. It’s a masterpiece and it feels creative, fresh and fun. Congratulations to you and your team Erika!!

  12. i was just thinking about how the den was my favorite space in the house when i read that it wasn’t included. so surprised. i love it.

  13. Hi Erika! I am looking for a neutral sisal/jute type rug to put in my living room under couch and coffee table, etc. Can you tell me the best place to find one that is decent quality and kid-friendly and won’t break the bank! I appreciate your help!

  14. Your work is perfection! One question though, where is the refrigerator? I’m assuming behind the range wall, but I just couldn’t tell.

  15. i love the study! just beautiful.
